Mother fucker, mine's in there. I had thought about buying all the forms of my domain names a long time ago, but i figured it wasn't worth the price... my site is small, and gets low SE traffic, so I figured who cares? I can't believe these fuckers are doing this...

I believe Amateur pages has had their domain cybersquatted, as well - how many people screw up the E and U or forget the S? There's a few combinations in there that you may like to try. You boys may want to look into that...

I understand why people are upset about cyber squatting...but when it happens to me, I see it as somewhat of a status symbol...LoL. If the original stays on his game, he will win the traffic in the end. Maybe I just like having legitimate reasons to make fun of people.

Yup, I've had the same shit going on with voyeurpost.com since '98 (or whenever I started it), I've just been to busy with other stuff to take real action. lol

To BP, Zilla, HQ and others... you do NOT need a trademark to shut these guys down, the legal way that is If you can prove you were using the domain before them than they are infringing on an implied TM. Never the less, it's more protection to have a TM. I always document my sites in action on video and show others are down when I start, that way I have proof I started first.

However, you should keep an eye on new TM applications and dispute those that might infringe on your domain. If they manage to register a TM for a similar domain you MAY be screwed.

And yes, this info comes from spending too much time in the legal process

Why get so worked up over it? All his domains up there (well, almost all) are based on surfer typos... what's the difference between that and say, a freehost 404 redirection? Sure he's makin' some pocket change off it, but so what? Every one of those domains redirects to PornoGround.... how many times does a surfer need to see that to be sick of it? I think if your domain and the site that goes with it are strong and of substance, it really shouldn't be a big concern. Most surfers get to where they end up at by clicking links and their own bookmarks versus type-ins, I would think, anyway. And no surfer is gonna bookmark the front page to PornoGround.

Cybersquatting has the potential to eventually be the downfall of the adult internet. I don't have the time to go into it in real detail right now, but if you keep on top of the news, you will find out how seriously the FTC is taking cybersquatting. Normally, when a surfer does a typo and ends up on a cybersquatter's site, he gets stuck in a plethora of popups. The complaints pouring into the FTC have been mushrooming, and the FTC is now on a crusade to shut down Cybersquatters. Cybersquatting has very serious implications that can definitely affect every single adult webmaster.

Granted that Zilla... but, (if we are gonna use the guy up there as the example), those domains are pointed to PornoGround. (the particular sponsor isn't all that important for our purposes here today)... Which is basically, a legit sponsor. Why is it so bad for the surfer to get a popup through being redirected by his bad typing skills versus getting the same popup by clicking the advertised sponsors link or banner? It's a blind program, so the sponsors rules are not being broken by sending redirect traffic... and since when did we start cradling the surfers like babies anyway?

They know full well they're gonna see a few popups when they're surfin' for porn. Shit, even MSN and other non-porn sites have popups in the surfers face now. It's called advertising. Maybe it's a little sneaky, for sure, but so is stapling cigarette posters at a four foot eye level.

I'm not tryin' to get into a big bitch session here Zilla, but I honestly don't really see why this is such a big deal. I could understand it if he registered "Thumbedzilla" or something and made a big green TGP out of it... but that's clearly not the case here... how many different combinations of typos can there be? Probably alot... some poor surfer will always be hitting a bad key every now and then, and there's no way you're ever gonna be able to cover every combination.

Maybe I'm just not seeing a bigger picture or something, but if it's the surfer's seeing popups that is the big issue, then I don't think it really has anything to do with the squatter... because most paysite sponsors use popups in one form or another. So if that's the issue, maybe the paysites are the evil ones.

But I do think that when we start trying to make everything so rosy and sweet for the surfers so they can't ever possibly have something to complain about, we are dead in the water at that point.

Surfers Utopia:
No advertising whatsoever, no popups, no banners, no 404 pages, never down, and always 100% free on demand.

Man, I don't want to start trouble, but if this is about your view of principles, then why bring it up to anyone else? Everybody views principles differently, and everyone bases those principles on different premise. My principles say, "who gives a fuck about somebody who bought a domain similar to mine?" I know cyber-squatting goes farther than this, and if you bought kidstoys.com and point it to porn.com, then that crosses different lines. But what we're dealing with here is not that at all.

We have somebody getting a domain that was available, and trying to make a couple bucks on it of careless people. They're not bombarding them with pop-ups, and not giving them something in they weren't already expecting (ie: porn).

I do not know if you watch the news, or if you realize what is going on with this communication/information frenzy of the last decade, or if you have studied any business courses in your life. But if you have done the three above, you will recognize that the way to make the most money and go the farthest, is to focus on follow through and plan for tomorrow. I know it sucks when somebody makes a little dough on your ideas, or on your work, I've been there...I've been pissed off...I've planned retaliation. Then I calm down, and realize the best way to combat it is simply to beat them. Have better execution on my end. If you want to puss out and waste time helping kill our freedoms of speech, more power to you. If you want to get on with life and be success ful...then "stop crying."

Most of your examples are unethical from the surfers stand point. I don't consider pop ups and banners of donkey dicks unethical. They are a part of the adult landscape. My gripe is with a webmaster who knowingly fucks another webmaster out of hard earned money. Trust me, if I did it to you, you would be pissed !!
