Anybody using NexGRS-0.900 Gallery Rotator?

Anybody with set-up instructions on this script?

This is the free gallery rotator from the people who wrote NexTGP, which was then bought out by JMB and turned into AGP Sql 3...
I believe NexGRS-0.900 was the base for JMB's gallery rotating script, too.

I found yesterday a copy on my hd and un-zipped it in the hope I could use it, but there's no text file or anything with instructions. Instructions used to be on the nextgp-website, which by now is redirecting to JMB...

Installation

Introduction

The NexGRS installation is fairly simple, and anyone who has installed CGI scripts before should not have a problem. If you are new to CGI you should also be able to install this yourself. Just make sure you understand how to set permissions on files and how to upload files to your server in ASCII mode.

Uploading The Files

The first thing you need to do, if you haven't already, is to extract the NexGRS archive you downloaded. Make sure you extract it using the Use folder names option of your extraction program. After you extract the archive you will find a folder named NexGRS-VERSION in the directory you extracted the software to. That directory will contain four files and a sub-directory named templates.

Now you need to FTP into your server to create a directory for NexGRS. NexGRS will need it's own directory - do not install it in a directory that contains other CGI scripts or files. I recommend using a sub-directory of your cgi-bin named nexgrs. Once you have created the directory for NexGRS, change into it and create 2 sub-directories. Name them files and templates. An example directory structure is listed below.

You can now begin uploading the files to your server. Use the table below to determine where the files should be uploaded. Make sure you upload all files in ASCII mode. If you are not sure how to do this, consult the documentation for your FTP client.

You now need to set the permissions on your files and directories. The permissions you use will depend if you are on a server that runs CGI scripts with suEXEC or not. If you are not sure, use the non-suEXEC permissions; if you have problems change to the suEXEC permissions.

suEXEC server
755 - nexgrs directory, templates directory, files directory, all .cgi files
644 - all .tpl files, style.css, common.pl

Non-suEXEC server
777 - nexgrs directory, files directory
755 - templates directory, all .cgi files
644 - all .tpl files, style.css, common.pl
Once the files have been uploaded and their permissions set, you can continue with the web-based installation portion.

Web-Based Installer

You can now point your browser to the install.cgi script located on your server. This will run a few quick tests, and if they pass it will initialize the software so it is ready to start using. If there are any permission problems, it will let you know about them. If everything goes well you will be presented with a page telling you the login information to use when accessing the nexgrs.cgi script. You may click on the link to the nexgrs.cgi script now.

If you get a 500 Internal Server Error when you run the install.cgi script, there are a couple things you can try. First, change the permissions on the nexgrs directory to 755 and try again. If that does not work, upload a new copy of the install.cgi script, making sure you upload in ASCII mode.

Setting Your Options

The first thing you will need to do when you access the nexgrs.cgi script is to setup your options. To access your options, click on the Edit Options link in the Setup portion of the left-hand menu. Most of the fields will be filled in for you already with default values. You can change them to whatever you want. If you make any changes, be sure to click the Save Options button at the bottom of the page.

Next Steps

Your installation is now complete, and you may begin using the software's features. The next things you will want to do is configure your TGP page template and add some galleries to the database. See the correspoding portion of the manual for details on those features. Be sure to change your username and password so no one else can access your NexGRS control panel.

Not that usual on GFY, so this is very appreciated !!

Somebody else pointed me to the cached Google files of the initial manual, so I should be right now...
