How can I make my WHOIS info private?

I emailed Netsol about this but they blew me off.

Anyone know if it's possible to just have it say "private" or something instead of giving my name and phone number and shit?

yeah but isn't that how you prove you own it? by your info being filed under the domain name?

Do what I did. Move to another city, do not
put a change of address in, get a new cell phone, do not forward your new landline and make sure it's unlisted. Take all your email address off ALL your pages and get some Yahoo email address's.

This should take care of your problem.

then why do you want to change it? (if you want to prove ownership with whois info)
Put it in the name of "xxxpornomediaentertainment productions INC." and incorporate the shit before/after, whatever.

No, there is no way to make your information private. If you're really concerned, just use your first initial, last name, a PO box, and say EMAIL ONLY in the telephone field.

yeah for ordinary domains just change it, but for multi million dollar domains, if you have any, I would put the real info there

Also, if you are in the US, isn't it really cheap to have a Inc. or LLC there?

On a related topics - I was suprised to find out that Directnic has a default security setting of "normal" for domain name transfers:

----
Normal Security: This will automatically allow the transfer, if neither of the notification emails is responded to within five days.

High Security: This will automatically decline the transfer, if neither of the notification emails is responded to within two days.
----

I can't imagine why anyone would want normal. You can change your setting to high under "my account", "customer settings".

I don't think the "email only" works for directnic - as I believe they require it to be a number for the form to work.
