    My Laptop motherboard fried (questions)

Alienware has always had an overheating problem, this time my motherboard fried.. I try to boot up and nothing beeps, get a black screen basically. I pulled the ram and tried to reboot, no beeping.

Question: Should my hardrive be alright?

and if it is, I should just be able to put it in another laptop right?

Yes your drive should be fine although you may have a little corrupted data and it may work in a new laptop. While the size of laptop harddrives are fairly standard the way they plug in may not be. You may have to create your own drive mounting system or try to reuse the original one. Last problem you may find is that some MB us a portiont of the master boot record to save power on passwords (Dell does for sure). The drive may not work in any other machine if the password has been set.
