Ahead of the curve - a different take on marketing

This article by Tom Yager got me really thinking.

He notes the oddness of the of sales pressure and how the atmosphere in Apple stores is more effective at generating sales than the hard sell method.

In the sense of online marketing in this biz in particular, do you think a non-aggressive approach could be even more successful in drawing people's attention, target their emotions and turn them into buyers? This is certainly no news, but perhaps something that more and more businesses may turn to in the following years.

Example of just that pitch might be Ultra Skin. I think quiet's site has been the most subtle design around all these years, and there is no real reason in trying to argue the site's success.

they key is to make people think like they need to buy it, not like they're being sold something.

I believe that biggest success yields when you do both.

The have great prodcuts and built up huge loyalty.

What they do works.

Soft sell works on many high end products.

Indeed, I think you need more than just have a "soft" approach tho.
