Just got back from a friends wedding in Cuba, While there I bought as many of these bad boys as I could legally take back to Canada (100 cigars total or 4 boxes)

I know many Americans are salivating now LOL

Even if you are not a cigar smoker these are the tastiest cigars.

The paperwork these came with was amazing. Govt tax stamps, holograms and exit passes to leave the country with them legally.

You can legally take back as many as you want. Once you go over the limit you have to declare them and pay a fee, but I just stuffed 7 cases of esplendidos in my bag. Great cigars. If anyone wants some let me know and I'll pick you up some.

There are lots of Cubans selling fake, dried out or B grade Cohibas. I feel better knowing that I bought them from a reputable source in a walk in cedar humidor.

Don't get me wrong. I know there are deals to be had out there and I am sure you managed to get the real goods as some people do.

I had lot's of friends at my hotel get scammed into buying fauxhibas or dried out Romeo and Juliets. I am not experienced in the Cuban black market cigar trade so I spent a few extra bucks to make sure I got the real stuff. I still scored on the prices compared to buying them in Canada.

I am keeping them all as either gifts or for personal smoking so the price was not an issue for me.

However insulting me and others is not necessary. For the record I am a serious capitalist and would not have visited Cuba on my own accord. However I would have gone anywhere to witness the marriage of my best friend and he chose Cuba so my wife and I went.

Visiting a communist country does not make me a communist or an asshole. ;)

Agreed, the average living conditions for Cubans are horrible. It's a very poor country with a very poor political system. Many people turn to crime, corruption and prostitution just to pay for food. The average Cuban makes $15-$30 per month and has to pay full price for lifes necessities.

I knew what to expect before going there but seeing it in front of your face is a very sobering experience.

Cubans will rip off a tourist faster than anything. They steal the rings, boxes, and stuff, and use 9th grade floor sweepings to make fakes. They will look great, they will be in the right box, they will smell fine, and they will have all the draw of a wet rag.

You might as well smoke the lawn from the front of your hotel.

If you are going to go all that way and want to bring home a quality smoke, it pays to shop where you know they are real.
