Real friends are hard to come by.....
I tried introducting porn to my "friends" they talked like they were very interested. "Yeah porn makes a shitload of money". Quote from my friends. Never heard a word about from them again. So I don't want to hear it when I start upgrading gear. Nothing but hard work and dedication in this biz. They are stuck on "Gotta go to college to be successful" bullshit. I tried college, It didnt interest me at all.

LOL i tried helping 3 friends so far:

First one started a bit, and actually got me to try a new niche which is a great moneymaker now. He however failed and stopped doing it, he's now working for me.

Second one I tried to help, never put much effort into it and gave up.

Third one I helped quite a bit, taught him the basics and he always wanted to know more. Like too much. As I do SEO for a living, there are many things I keep to myself and he wouldn't stop bugging me. I gave him some hints but never the whole deal as I've worked for over 3 years to gain that knowledge.
He gave up after making a few sales, he was doing well for starters though, but he just wanted all the juicy info right away. Fucker.

Anyway the other day we're talking about it and he's like: " Oh you know I do better when someone teaches me everything than learning it on my own" :1orglaugh
No shit

My friends also see me as someone who doesn't work a lot and i'm sure it pisses them off that I actually have time to go to school full time and still pull their yearly salary in a month.

Some of them don't mind and we speak openly about money, the other ones, especially the childhood friends are more touchy on the subject and are fucking jealous too. Funny enough they're the socialist ones :1orglaugh

Thankfully I do not really run into this problem. I think the reason being is that I am just to damn cheap. I save money however I can whenever I can. This of course also drives my friends nuts in various ways. They pretty much know I have money, yet they get on my ass when I remind them to put the soda cans in the recycle container ect.

My Gf is like that, thank God she's not a gold digger. She sometimes drives me nuts too, especially with coupons at the grocery store

In Quebec, it's almost a traditionnal way of thinking, if you're rich, you're a thief.

Sure know that bullshit! I gave up helping those who expressed an interest. There is no point - you might as well speak to a brick wall.

I seriously doubt even if you totally disclosed all info you had, they would not be one stage forward - humans like to talk a lot and do fuck all :-)

They are basically there for all the wrong reasons. If they have a box - tell em to fuck off and learn a shitload, then come back for a real lesson :-)

My friends are pretty cool about it. When I first brought up the subject of adult sites being my income they made a few of the jokes you'd expect (easy money/lots of it), but after that they haven't really said much more. I wouldn't mind telling them if they asked how much I make, but otherwise I don't ever say anything about it... who knows, it may cause probs if they did know as I'm fairly sure I make significantly more than any of them. My wife is the only one that knows how much I make, and that's because she asked one day (for no reason - but I told her anyway :) ).

I still live a relatively humble lifestyle but for anyone who has known me more than 5 years it would have been obvious that my income has ramped up significantly in that time. Luckily it has never been an issue... that I know of, anyway. :winkwink:

Anyone else experience similar things? It's just bizarre. I've read before that one of the big reasons "rich" aren't friends with "poor" is due to the "poor" becoming jealous. I'm wondering if this really is true, maybe I'm experiencing something similar?
I'm surprised that you're surprised about this. I've been in both positions before and I can totally see both points of view on this, but I know it hurts more to see your friends buy giga expensive shit they don't need when you're barely scraping by.

DWB 01-29-2005 11:55 PM

I have ONE guy that pulls that shit on me and he doesn't even have a clue to what I make. He assumes that because I am in porn and have a nice car I am close to being retired. lol

He always tells me about his struggles and shit and then when I offer my advice he replies with some shit like "dude, you can't even speak about this, you don't have any problems, your loaded, money isn't an issue for you."... and then I shut up and let him be miserable.

He is a jack ass, but he's still my friend and when his not crying about his money woes, he's a great guy. He is however an ignorant full because his brain is too small to realize that you change one set of problems for another when you have money. Pee-brain that he is, though I have tried to explain until I am blue in the face can not fathom that if he has money, he will still have problems.

He is 39 years old and a damn fool. :321GFY

i'm always inspired (in one way or another) by those more successful than me. i can't imagine actually being pissed of because of another's success. and i've never had the experience you've described sly...

GTS Mark 01-30-2005 12:35 AM

I am jealous of each and every one of you motherfuckers, I demand you all buy me beers next time I see you.

Rich GFY MOFOS!!!

JSA Matt 01-30-2005 01:30 AM

Some of you seriously need some new "friends"

I'm with Fletch on this, we never talk about money and no one would ever expect someone else to pick up the check or pay the tab simply because they make more money... that's a crock of shit.

Persius 01-30-2005 01:35 AM

it happens man... many times for me as well... they think its easy because your just on the computer doing adult shit..

Manansala 02-03-2005 08:25 PM

Torch them! Nobody has any right to judge your means of profit. Unless they just want to feel good about themselves, slapping them would be nice. :)

wargames 02-03-2005 08:30 PM

Sometimes I do. But I sometimes feel bad about it.

sickkittens 02-03-2005 08:33 PM

I used to have a friend call me up late at night asking to "borrow" money...even to go as far as telling me he would take me to the ATM to get it. Sad.

Dildozer 02-03-2005 08:38 PM

Some people are poor because of shitty luck, most of them are because of lack of initiative and hard work

They like to believe the contrary
