I don't have a lot of hope for this movie.
Looks a little too cheesy compared to some of the other comic book movies lately like Spider-Man, X-men, Daredevil, Blade.
The special effects look pretty lame, especially Dr. Doom and the Thing's costumes.
The worst thing for me is that they had to mess with the basic origin story, a story that had worked in the comic book for 40 years. 4 friends go up in a expiremental rocket ship and get hit by cosmic radiation and return with super powers. With the X-prize just being won and more small groups attempting private space travel, this would have made a timely story. Dr. Doom was jealous of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic - the guy who stretches and is the leader of the team) and his jealousy and arrogance led him to call the Fantastic Four his enemy after being disfigured in an experiment he attempted trying to prove he was smarter than Reed Richards.
May be picky, but the comic book has sold millions of issues in 40 years and the reason it sold is the story worked.
Changing the origin for this story would be like having Peter Parker being hit with a meteorite and gaining his Spider-Powers. The origin worked so why change it? I guess Hollywood feels that the public is a bunch of sheep and 40 years of history don't matter in their pursuit of box office glory.

Sin City is co-directed by Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Once upon a Time in Mexico, Spy Kids) and Frank Miller (Sin City creator/writer/artist as well as being responsible for Batman:The Dark Knight Returns, one of the best Comic Books ever). The movie LOOKS just like the comic book and has an awesome cast. This movie will be a milestone in comic book movies.

Directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento). The main thing I like about this movie? NO NEON! After a good beginning with Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher derailed the Batman Franchise with neon covered guns, neon covered cars, plastic nipples on the batsuits, and some just plain bad storytelling.
This movie goes back to the bare basics. Dark and gritty with a focus on the story, not the special effects. Christian Bale looks pretty decent so far as Batman. Can't wait to get the first look at the villian of the movie, The Scarecrow.

Plus I have hope for the new Superman movie being that starts filming soon with Bryan Singer (X-men 1&2, Usual Suspects) directing. They picked a pretty unknown actor for Superman (like Richard Donner did with Christopher Reeve in the 70's Superman), and the casting for the other characters has been pretty decent so far, especially Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. The new movie will not be a retelling of his origin, but is considered a sequel of sorts to Superman and Superman II. The story will be that Superman left Earth following those movies and that he is returning after being gone for years.
Bryan Singer is a smart director so this Superman movie has a lot of promise.
