Adult Industry Auctions is now free.

Hey guys. I just got Adult Industry Auctions up and running about two weeks ago. I noticed the other night that there were some issues with the script. I took care of the problems and it's running perfectly now.

I also have decided to make this auction site a free service. There are now no fees envolved at all. All you have to do is register and you're free to buy, sell, and even swap goods and services having to do with our industry.

You're seeing the old version still. I switched the domain's nameservers about 24 hours ago, so most people see the new site, but not everyone apparently.

Exactly.

I figure when I get this rolling here, the ad spots will be prime real estate that I can sell. Even if there are fees, down the road, they would only be like 1-3%, which isn't really anything anyways, but as of now I don't have intentions of doing so. I can make this happen with just the ad space. Besides, the whole concept of it being free I believe will draw and retain active members much better in the long run, as well as the short run.

I'm putting the FAQ section up now. I wanted to share a couple hints/tips with you. They are common sense for the most part, but I figured I'd post them anyways:

1) When creating an auction, make sure you start it off with a low starting bid. It's better to start out lower than higher. An auction that has a starting bid of $1 will get much more attention and bids than one starting at $1000.

2) Protect yourself with a reserve auction. A reserve is the minimum amount of money you will accept for your auction. For example, if you are selling an item/service that you would not take less than $200 for; when you create your auction make sure you set the reserve amount at $200. After the auction is over, if the highest bid is less than $200, you don't have to sell it.

3) Do you want to sell multiple items/services? If you do, then you want to start a dutch auction. A dutch auction allows people to bid and win on multiple items/services in the same auction. If you are just selling a single item or service then you should just have a standard auction.

4) Let people know about your auctions! Feel free to make relevant posts on message boards with a link to your auctions. You could even have a link to you auctions in your sig. The more people that know about your auctions, the better your chances are at having successful and more profitable auctions.

5) This script uses proxy bidding, just like eBay. When you place a bid on an item/service, you will be asked what your maximum bid is. The script will then automatically outbid other bidders on your behalf until your maximum bid has been reached.

If you guys had any questions, just let me know.

I also added some domains for auction.

And I really like the clean, easy to use interface of the site. AIA looks very promising

Yup, for sure. I have banner ad control over the site, so I can allow content providers to have their banners displayed in the content section, etc.

If you guys have anything to put up for auction, and I mean anything (as long as it's legal), feel free to start up an auction.

It doesn't even have to be directly related to our industry either. I have a bunch of Xbox games that I will be putting up there in a little bit.

Oh, don't worry. This is an auction site for the online adult industry and will always be, but there is an 'everything else' category that webmasters can put up almost anything up for sale as well.
