To be honest. I think it really depends on what you are trying to encode. I've yet to come across an all encompassing encoder.

I can't get it to let me use certain codecs when importing footage from deck. It only let's you use Sony's dv codec which sucks ass. I'm sure there is a way to change it, I haven't found it. I don't even use Vegas to import anymore because of that. :disgust

I'm tired of having to build all my font treatments in PhotoShop. I think Vegas does crappy font treatment.

When I print to tape, no matter what, within 8 minutes I get an error saying the device has stopped respponding when I KNOW FOR A FACT that it hasn't. It still prints to tape but always throws macro blocks when it errors.

It automatically resizes images on import and so you have to tell it to not do that... EVERY TIME.

I'm just at that point where I wanna try something new.

I run a P4 3.06 GHZ, 2G RAM, 1.25 terabytes HD. If that can't handle Vegas...

Why are you so defensive ? I was trying to help you You called VEgas ms paint which is alittle extreme . You want real editing power you have to reach into your pocket and spend really money ,your system is weak for editing on a very serious level. Avid would the way to go or speed razor but look at 10 k when all is said and done.

Not everyboard is highschool some boards are adult professionals. The guys on this board actually have books they have written on the subject and speak all over the country. They have forgot more on editing than most of us know lol

Right now I'm sitting on $40K. My goal is to convert my garage into a studio, and then outfit it with a decent program. So the 10K I can manage.

You're right about the keyboard warrior/defense move. I'm so used to everyone here being so fuckin' ready to attack. My apologies.

Send me to your vegas board. I'll try to remember they are not us, and treat them with the same level of respect I give to most of you.

Exporting your work to disk with out rendering, in quicker then real-time and with out recompression or quality loss.
I know what I would choose.
Matrox makes this possible with Premier Pro 1.5

Out of all the NLE, avid gives exact precision when it comes to control.
If thats really what your after thats what you should go with. That said vegas can do alot, but its sloppy to work with. I havent tried out premiere since v5 and it sucks rocks, might have to take a look at the new one though.
