:stop Tupac Vs. Eminem

No contest....They are both brutal and we just show our age when talking about these talentless fucksticks.

I made the mistake of asking a 17 year old girl what her favorite rap groups were and she listed underground, unsigned hype that I (or you Source reading motherfuckers) have never even heard of. It was at this point when I immediately realized I've passed into middle age (at 27).

But there is one thing you can point about these MTV whores. While the argument can be made that both Tupac Shakur and Marshall Mathers are media-created, over-produced, no talent bums - their oedipal complexes are a little different

Compare the lyrics of "Cleanin out my Closet" to "Dear Mama"...

Tupac's shit rises above the "disrespect my mother for shock value" tone that Em's wack-ass production company came up with.

And on that note: Everyone seems to say "Eminem's old shit was great." Can someone please give me an example of an old Eminem song worth downloading?

Just my

and Eminems early work is mix tapes and battles... I'm not a fan but I consider dude a genious, not many people can come from a battle MC background like him and become a studio MC...People buy the Eminem "character" instead of buying his music...Tupac isnt what he's percieved to be,too much credit if you ask me.. Him and Biggie fall waaaay short of being the best MC's of all time... Only the MTV generation gives them that acolade

Tupac had much much more of an impact on the music industry and common folks than Eminem ever will.Even though Tupac contradicted himself a lot due to his own personal demons he still is a great legacy..

Sorry chief....

Up here in Arctic Canada, we weren't violated by that MTV filth.

We only get MuchMusic in our igloos.

The funniest thing is sitting back and reading a bunch of cracka ass crackas critiquing rap music as if they know anything.

If you like an artist then good for you, if you don't, why criticize them by saying things like "talentless"? Although many people dislike Em, whoever says he's talentless if simply a jackass. To prove this point, try doing what he does. When you fail miserably, you'll understand that he's very talented at what he does.

2pac - Changes
Em - The way I am

Those are 2 amazing songs (especially lyrically), both of which were written by them.

Are you seriously comparing Eminem to 2Pac? 2Pac may have been a bit of a studio ganster, but he was still one of the best rappers of all time.

Uhh, they have a ton of freestyles together, but I assume you're talking about the most popular one (I got 7 mack 11s, about 8 .38s, 9 9s 10 mack 10s the shit never ends). You're right, that is an unreal freestyle.

dre is in Outkast,I suggest getting some of the earlier work...southernplayalisticcadilliacmuzak and probably one of the best written albums of all time ATLiens.. Aesop is as underground as they come but when there is a poll done on the greatest he's usually 1,2 or 3.... Can't think of any songs of the top of my head cause I'm not really a fan but i respect talent...

Once again Tupac isnt the greatest MC of all time, ask any hiphop head... If anything he set hiphop back a few years... him and Eminem ARE comparable because not too many artists wear their heart on their sleeve like they do... What makes their music stand out is that it IS contradictable cause thats life! and they are a couple of the few who actually lived how they speak it...

different backgrounds, different lifestyles so you can't compare them there

2pac is an artist, rapper, and an actor with skills and something to listen to.... while Eminem is a typical idiot that has no other means to attract attention to himself besides spitting bullshit about others ;-)

Just curious what a "cracka" is exactly. I mean I think I know that "cracka" and "cracker" is what black racists call white people I think?

But what the hell does it mean, where did it come from etc etc?

Careful when looking for Aesop's music, there is an "Aesop" and an "Asop" as well, one I believe is from the Bay area with Living Legends (wiicked underground tunes if you like that stuff).. Aesop Rock is from Brooklyn, his albums are entitled Float (1998) AppleSEED (1997) and Labor Days (2001)

Don't get an aesop rock song, you'll miss the rest of the album.

The question is will Eminem get a post on GFY years after his death, where he is compared to one of the tightest rappers out there... my guess is no.

Tupac was a poet and I know of 1 university studying his work.

Both artists are great. Not forgetting NAS who is able to make the switch from mainstream rap to hardcore/underground at will.

Considering that eminem cites tupac as one of his influences, 2pac is clearly superior. People are still nodding their heads to 2pacs cds, some as old as 10 years. I'd be surprised if people are listen to eminem's TRL-friendly recycled shit in 10 years

I still don't get it. White people aren't allowed to call Tupac a "studio gangster" , but a black person can? Oh, you have to live on the streets to understand what you see on MTV, right?

I think both are great rappers. They both have their own style.

haha you think hes one of the top rappers ever but you're not a fan? typical backbacker mentality to name someone that other people think is the top underground mc as the top rapper ever even though you dont really like him.

No comparison. I don't think anyone even comes close to 2pac. I'll give 10 tracks that cover his large variety in music.

Teardrops And Closed Caskets
Hit Em Up
Changes
Made Niggaz
To Live And Die In LA
Str8 Ballin
Pain
Life Goes On
Dear Mama
Smoke Weed All Day

Now give 2 tracks of eminem that don't sound the same.
