jimholio.com
is available...... |
I just don't see how any domain name (unless it's some multi MILLION dollar kick ass 3 or 4 letter domain) will ever pay for itself in pure type-in value. Maybe I'm ignorant. In my opinion, you'd need something like sex.com to have a domain that paid for itself in type ins, and that wouldn't go for $300k. Or even $3 million. Knowing Gary Kremen, $30 mil probably wouldn't even be enough. :)
Branding, branding, branding.... |
These threads never seem to ebb: People who reveal themselves by climbing in and saying how ridiculous it is to spend money on domains....yada yada...
Good luck Ken. |

Even typo names that have steady type-in traffic are valuable. Voyuer.com (a misspelling of voyeur) just went for $112,100 this week in an auction at SnapNames. The name has a score of 2,549 in Overture with the extension. This might not be a perfect example (I think the buyer overpaid), but it shows just how lucrative type-in domains are and how willing investors are to get their hands on steady, perpetual (e.g. NEVER ENDING) revenue traffic. :) |
Ken you're welcome for editting your spelling ;)
Good luck snapping up some good ones :thumbsup BTW I actually talked to someone the other day who had a killer flower domain for sale.. I'll try to think of who in the heck that was... |

On second thought, maybe I'll just make this easy and buy JimHolio.com for 300k. Sounds like a bargain! |

This is the same thing I said publicly on the original YNOT back when WebFather was paying 60 or 90K for porno.com and telling everyone that domains were the the real estate of the internet. He literally spelled out his business plan for us in '97 or so... I wish I had followed his advice back then! ;) |
It's amazing how some people can't see the real value of type-in domains.
|
KC
You can see by this thread why Webfather gave up, you can also see that those who followed are still here today. Even those that did not follow to the letter still picked up nice domains on his advise and still reep the benefits from it. |

Yep, I got in on the domain game pretty early (1996) and even though I was buying before I knew Webfather, he got me "re-motivated" on more than one occasion. I definitley picked up a few gems thanks to him. |

*************** & SweetAss.com can be yours for 300k!
- just kidding - *************** = $30k SweetAss.com = $8k Thank you! CONTACT: dtcmbs AT aol.com I actually just made this offer in a new thread, so I must include: This offer expires February 5, 2005. First offer of acceptance takes the names! |
where is the best place to buy domains?
|
I didn't say domain names didn't have value. I just believe people over rate the value tremendously. Even if a domain name gets 5,000 type ins a day how well will that traffic convert? 1:100 ? 1:1000 ? It all depends on the QUALITY of the site on which they land, as I mentioned before.
And a quality site trancends a domain name. My point: I'd rather spend the $300k on quality content and watch it grow by word of mouth than to spend it on a domain name that will point to a site that sucks. |
Gibberish. Ken please use the $300k to buy me a new house. Thanks in advance! :)
|
kennnnn review my sites ;)
