Canada has fought wars?

Maybe the war against obesity and illiteracy.

Its nice to know some people remember the sacrifices made for our freedom. People are so selfish and wrapped up in their greedy little worlds these days.

What an idiot - my Grandfather's ship was torpedoed in the North Sea long before America joined the war effort.

Check your history lessons. WW2 actually started in 1939.

rememberance day is a very special day to alot of canadians. my grandfather served in the the military and so did my hubbys grandfather. my hubbys grandfather was actually at dieppe and the invasion of normandy he was armored division and brought home many an emotional scar with him from these battles. its nice to see some still remember the significance this day really holds, for those who dont remember 9/11 and the tragedy it brought. these old vets do
they fought to keep it off our continent and did a damn good job, only they truly know and appreciate the sacrifices that were made so we could all be where we are today.
im done my speech its just this day is really special and canada has always tried to be there when needed.
yes even when all we have to contribute is a tank and a ship
lol

Canada =
-Prosperity
-One of the highest literacy rates in the world
-Innovation - much of the technology that fuels the internet today was developed by Canadians in Canada ... JAVA - Real Audio's sound enhancement...
-Much lower crime rate then any of our allies

The list could go on and on...Needless to say, Canada is one hell of a country that I am proud to be a part of. Thank you to all of the strong men and women that made Canada one of the best countries to live in the World.

Canadians freed our country, we thank them greatly for that! Concerning Labret: it's sad people like you have to get their share of attention by provoking other people, especially when it concerns such serious matters as this.

dewpoint.

-Prosperity
pros·per·i·ty [pro spérrtee ] noun
success: the condition of enjoying great wealth, success, or good fortune
-One of the highest literacy rates in the world
Well ABC Canada begs to differ
-Innovation - much of the technology that fuels the internet today was developed by Canadians in Canada ... JAVA - Real Audio's sound enhancement...
Java, dead in the water. Everybody just loves serving applets. Real Audio, yea...everyones choice for quality.
-Much lower crime rate then any of our allies
Crime rates are calculated per 100,000 people. Canada has always made the top-10 list.
The list could go on and on...
Yes, true.

I like going there. The US dollar changes well, west coast has clean air, but it's best
to research facts instead of passing on hearsay.

Prosperity - Yes, thank you for the dictionary definition. My point exactly ( and your point would be?) Our per capita income is higher then many of the developed countries and the opportunites for personal development are staggering.

Literacy - YES!! You have chosen to quote a "charitable" organization whose mandate is to increase literacy. They mean well, but, their stats do tend to be somewhat biased. To substantiate my claim, I studied an unbiased resource - UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Oranization.

And whether or not, as you claim, Java or Real Audio are dying technologies, these were just 2 of many examples that paved the way for further innovations.

The telephone, as developed by Alexander Graham Bell, is now a dinosaur, but it is still lauded as the predecessor to many modern technologies. Leaps in technology are the way of the world. I am proud to be a citizen of the country where many of these technologies were first given birth.

Crime stats - yes my figures were biased - I live in Calgary Alberta where our crime stats are significantly lower then most other urban areas.

So, yes, I do stand by my comments and yes I did do my research. But I think you missed the main point - Canada is a fantastic country which I wouldn't trade for the world!!

P.S. (To beat you to the punch). You may bring into the equation Canada's low dollar compared to the US dollar and some other currencies.

In Canada, our Exports greatly exceed our imports. (StatsCanada) Our low dollar puts us in a very competitive position against other manufacturing nations. A good case in point would be a small time webmaster like myself. For every $5,000 U.S. you make a month, I make roughly $7,700 - which more then compensates for any cost of living differences between Canada and our neighbors to the south.

Another case would be the current Soft Wood Lumber dispute between Canada and the US. The US gov't is levying heavy premiums on our exports as they feel that our US counterparts can not compete against our pricing.

Canadians are fiercely proud of our country and proud of our fighting and working anchestors that got us to where we are today.

Thats all fine and dandy if you stay in Canada, but come across the border and buy yourself a Coke for 36 dollars Canadian.

Your proud that your trying to undercut the US?

One, its not as easy to log in the US as it is in Canada. We are not 95% wilderness and have a population of 2000. Your country has the environmental policies of the French.

Just because you can glut the market with your cheap lumber doesn't mean shit. Its the same reason internet porn is hurting, too many idiots flooding the market with cheap product.

Your fisherman do the same things. Cut off your noses spite your face. Canadians are fucking idiots plain and simple.

The land of fucking bland. Your music suck, your tv sucks, your beer suck, and your women are ugly.

And the French are homosexuals.

If I ever move back to Nort America with hubby I would seriously think about Canada. I have seldom been anywhere as nice (scenery, people and over all evironment) as Ontario (we fell in love with London, Ontario).

My husband called it 'America done right'. It was the combination of Amerian and British culture with a dash of french that made it so appealing.

on the remmberance note: At the UK Remembeance day ceremony(can anyone tell me why everyone else has it on 11 Nov - armistace day - but the USA has it on the 12th?) someone had a sing that simply said 'The young are greatful'.

That somes it up for me. That generaton (of many nations) saved the world and we should thank them before they are all gone.

My grandfather (a WW2 vet) died last monthand I have to admit to being bit sad that he hadn't died just a week or so earlier and then he wouldn't have gone to his grave knowing he WTC had happened and that he had seen the start of yet another war.

I never doubted that Boneprone was a real person. That what I found so damn sad about it.

Canadian hottie is an oxymoron.

And I am glad you at least find me entertaining.
