I'll take a drop nose 928S anyday. Most people think I'm nuts but it's always been my favorite Porsche. The Boxster is pretty bad ass though.

~Then I hope you're saving enough money buying it used to put into any repairs that come from having a used Porshe.

stangster,

if you want an exotic performance car, the carrera would be the car to choose.

boxters are more "show" then speed. they are still quite fast, but the carrera definatley owns it in a racing situation.

so, what it comes down to
boxter - very attractive, speedy,

carrera - speed god, attractive (in a slick way), racing machine! hehe

i have driven a carerra and must say they are very nice rides...you can take corners extremely fast! and the acceleration is enough to make you jizz!

I was looking at and test driving sports cars all spring. The boxter looks nice, but wasn't as exciting to drive as some of the others. I was only able to drive the boxster though, not the S. I tried out the audi tt convertible, the bmw z3, mercedes slk, boxster and S2000. My favorites were definitely the slk and the S2000. I went with the S2000 simply cause imho it had the most 'F1' feel of all those cars. But the boxster is really beautiful to look at.

No question, I would go for the Carrera if you have the chance. A serious sports car, and way more exotic than any of the cars at that price.

i own a boxster, and i love everything about it, and believe it or not, the insurance is low because of all the safety features in it... If the carrera doesnt have the latest body style, id stay away from it, laymen won't know it isn't new, but the car enthusiast will... the cool thing about Boxsters is they body style hasn't really changed over the years, so my '97 looks just like a 2001 =-)

either way, Porsche makes the best, most fun, sportscars in the world.... you can't lose...

nice car Minte. My rear tires wear down every 10K miles or so too (soft rubber!). Front's last about 18K though.

Buy American.

For that kind of cash you could get a '70 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi and 400 hours of two girl show in the VIP at Cheetah's.

Plus some like fuzzy dice and a foot shaped gas pedal.

both cars r perfect (as most european ones)

but!

boxtster is targeted on lower segment (why the hell it's so darn expensive??? it's like 120000 DM here!!!)

carrera is top car with the best ingine & transmission.

if u r mad after speed and adrenaline - go for carrera
if u want great car, but don't want to bother with maintance - go boxter

surely check all issues, like warranty, insur. etc.

take a drive test if u can man! that's very important

good luck with any choice. both cars r great.

hi stangster, both cars are nice but depends on how often your gonna drive it. If it's a daily car I suggest you go with the better warranty. and does convertible matter? use to have a 92 america roadster (http://vista.pca.org/stl/92amroad.htm)in the house and it was a solid car, convertible top leaked alittle, but thats about it. I like 911s, but a new boxster S with 250hp is not far behind.

I got a 1998 Porsche Boxster 2.5 (silver) - It's a fucking dream machine. It only cost me £30,000 ( about $50,000 )

I've never had a go of the Carrera but I wouldn't dis them... They look pretty cool too... I can't be critical of the Boxster. Great to drive in town and on the long roads.... :-)

Cheers

The best Porsche for me is 996 Turbo, it's 420 HP and it's the best car I ever drove.

Between Boxter and Carrera I will chose Carrera. Boxter is the cheapest Porches ever made and it's more like normal convertible car then sport car. Also Carrera has much more futures, better brackes, better engine.

Minte, you own my favorite car
The beamer (?) in the back looks cool too though...

as said on here before, the Boxter is for ppl who cannot afford the 911, or for the wife doing groceries!
