Lots of BS here BUT many of the real players lurk here too.

IMO - GFY is not about doing business, from the 'post' end of things.

It's about finding services. EG - want to sell or buy a site/domain? Looking for a designer, hosting, etc? In that sense, it does well and has a lot of value.

In terms of learning about the biz, or as to whether or not there is value in post count, I'd say... an unqualified no.

90% + of all posts are pure entertainment. Pic trades, surfers posting, or young guys trying to stroke their own egos by lying about the notches on their bedpost or REALLY lying about how they wouldn't 'hit' anything with a heartbeat. It reminds me going clubbing - except online. Same BS, same shallow goal - acceptance from strangers and a hope of getting laid.

In the end, just as in any business, you are really only going to succesfully network if you are trustworthy and/or make other people money, or have a service they want. All other posturing is just for fun. Most real money, deals, long term networking, etc, is accomplished off the boards, and that doesn't just apply to GFY.

I'm fat, I drive a very COOL FULLy loaded SUV, I get laid several times a week, and I have more than one house.

Does that make me any less of a webmaster?

I thought I should come back to this and say that even though JFK does have what he does, not once in the 4 years I have seen him around have I seen him once brag about anything. :thumbsup
