Am I the only one that doesn't quite yet buy into the GEO-ad rage? I appreciate how they get viewer's attention at a very high rate vs. static banners. And of course, the click-through rate improves ...

But if I'm a surfer and I see an ad saying "click here to find women in Toronto" (where I'm from), I'd probably click. However, when I get to the site there are no women from Toronto, in fact no mention of Canadian women ... or Utah women, or Brazil women or Japan women.

The ones that Lavalife and other mainstream dating sites work great (I know) because they actually show you profiles of local ladies in the ad. When you click one, you go to HER profile and she is really from your area.

Cam site GEO ads I've seen so far (yes, this includes Lars) don't do that - they just take you to a chat room and essentially, mislead you. I personally don't like doing that to my visitors so I've stopped using the ads.

I'm not totally knocking the concept - anything for more clicks (read: potential sales) - but I'd like to send my visitors to where the ad tells them, and even more importantly, when they get there they see what the asked for/were promised in the ad (ie. Toronto women)

Realtime stats prolly not soon, though traffic is couned in realtime doing per minute on realtime is pretty intense with the volume that we do. There are solutions, but we have a ton of stuff already on our plate and that is not at the top of the list.

yes it works better for dating for sure, my Adultfriendfinder sales went up 3x using the geo ads i made for them, but we have also enjoyed quite a upsurge in clicks and sales from the geo ads fo cams.

I'm wondering how as a cam site you'd be able to milk the ads better? If you have ladies performing from a few countries perhaps even a GEO-targeted flag under their photo would help?

From a programming pov it may be a bit of a pain but I certainly think that anything you can do to reinforce the idea of "girls in your area" would help?

I'm sure in time - once the GEO stuff get's closer to an exact science - cam sites and just about every adult site can make a killing. I guess the golden key is how to incorporate the targeting into the actual site!

actually it's not that big of a deal from a programming pov... the content would be the problem... i can plaster a city's name all over the place, and if you are not too concerned about being dishonest, a solo-girl's website could have a profile where she claims to live in which ever city the user lives in... it's not hard... but if you are indeed going for a cam site with honest geo targeting results, i'd say it will be harder to get content from all over the place... but hey even then you could use latitude/longetitude calculations to find the nearest cam site.... "BooBooKittyFuckTeenCamGirl is 5 miles from Staten Island, NY! Come watch her now"

won't happen. can't happen. if a user's IP address is the only real information one can grab about a visitor, then you have to go by the IP address' information... depending on the ISP of the user it can be exact to far from the real locality of the user... for example; rr.com has local hops all over; so even in this rinky dink little area i live in, geo targetting works perfectly... but with something like AOL, all IP's are issued from Virginia... so an AOL user in California, to New York will always show up as coming from Virginia... plain and simple, there is no full proof solution...

(sorry if i'm not making much sence...i'm half asleep...)
