Question for Pierre

Have you ever recieved a silver keychain, thinking it was not silver and giving it to someone else?

hahaha

Donny 01-25-2005 06:10 PM

The only bad thing about you buying AL4A is that you did away with most hosted galleries, as you mentioned earlier. DonnysGirls.com and AmateurMarket.net galleries converted that traffic great. AL4A has one of the best sources of TGP traffic. Oh well, at least rebills keep coming in.

My question is: when you bought AL4A did you also aquire most of the domains Al owned? There is one I was going to buy from him and now I can't find him. I'd still like to buy it.

Great interview Sleazy :thumbsup

Drake 01-25-2005 08:11 PM

Nice thread. Here's some questions to add:

How long do you expect to stay in this industry and what will you do afterward (assuming you intend to leave at all)?

Would you ever consider selling your sites?

Do you plan on buying more TGPs in the near future?

Drake 01-25-2005 08:13 PM

Also...

It seems none of your TGP's use trading scripts or blind links. Why is this? What is your opinion on these forms of trading?

RP Fade 01-25-2005 08:15 PM

Yup..'ambush interviews' is definitely a hit so far :thumbsup

Okidoki 01-26-2005 06:31 AM

Hi Rui,

Quote:

- What do you think its going to happen to the "tgp industry" with most tgp owners getting all their spots sold, exclusive partner accounts and FHG's, that leave out of the equation lots of good webmasters.
I don't think you can grow your site if you fill it with sold spots and fgh's.. It hurts the traffic in the long run. That is why I always strive for a combination of sold/ fhg and submitted galleries. Al4a was gaining on us one year after we bought worldsex, but when al started using fhg's mostly, his traffic dropped quite some (although he made more money, and that is what we're all in for ;-). So doing so has always good and bad sides. I believe that if my site will grow bigger (when we bought al4a.com, it had about 800k, now it has on some days 1.2 million), the money will come as well.

Partners accounts are something I can see the use for, it helps fighting cheaters. I wouldn't use strictly exclusive accounts, but I am working on a paid option (premium accounts). Where a webmaster would pay for extra service and increased listing chances. Webmaster would still have the option to get listed with a free account though, they just have to wait a bit longer, for example:
When we closed down the partner application form for al4.com we were reviewing applications for 2 months afterwards.

So if people want to get approved within 24 hours, get decline reasons for every submitted gallery, want to be reviewed ahead of everybody else etc..then I have to hire people for it as well, so thus will make it more costly for me. As I want to get rich too, I want to ask for a monthly fee.

Quote:

- Also in your opinion do you think that most tgp traffic belongs into a "monopoly" of a few selected ones (like yourself)?
I think we all share most of the same traffic. People who visit worldsex, might also visit the hun and some other sites probably. If I was a surfer, I would. Surfers probably buy of a site they feel most comfortable with (I assume).
It helps to be big, as we then corner a big share of the market ;-)

hope these answered your questions.
regards
Pierre

No idea if this has been asked, I don't have time to read the whole thread, but let me ask you this:

If you were the owner of The Hun, would you run it in a different way than he does, f.e would you change something, if yes, what would be that?

thanks,

PA

Something else about him that speaks volumes: Pierre is one of the few guys in the biz that travels all the way from Holland to the USA conventions and brings his family. How many times in this biz have we seen married/committed guys downright proud of the fact that they are at the conventions to play ball with talent? :disgust The same people talk to you about integrity and honesty of their program while they parade their 19 year old mistress around.

Yes, it was somebody else's fault. It always is.

mb 01-26-2005 09:08 AM

This is a great opportunity to give my opinion of Pierre.

In all my years of adult webmastering, he has to be the nicest guy that I've met. He is consistantly good humoured and fun to talk to. Alot of webmasters let success go to their head and when you chat with them, the conversation is centered around them and their business ventures. Pierre is happy to talk about family and other issues that are much more important than money and business. I wish you and your family all the best.

I want to hear more about this "new secret project" :-)

Okidoki - thank you for spending your precious time answering me :p

chowda 01-26-2005 10:14 AM

i got a question :D

since anyone with two scripts, a host and some content can open a tgp,
do u think for a tgp/mgp to survive they have to differentiate??

Okidoki 01-26-2005 11:17 AM

Hi Mike33,

Quote:

How long do you expect to stay in this industry and what will you do afterward (assuming you intend to leave at all)?
Well, at the moment I see no reason to leave the industry. I still love the internet, and especially the adult industry, mainly becuase it develops so fast and we always seem way ahead of other businesses with our technology. If I would, I would probably become an actor or a rockstar. Haven't decided yet. Or I would focus more on the sms business (text messaging on cellphones), Dennis runs that now, maybe I could help him out a little ;-)

Quote:

Would you ever consider selling your sites?
Why? are you buying? hehe
Sure, if somebody would offer me enough. Problem is then: I have a partner (50%) and we pay taxes (50%), so I would end up with 25% of the total amount if I decide to sell. So they better offer me a lot ;-)

Quote:

Do you plan on buying more TGPs in the near future?
Yes, why? wanna sell? ;-) Fortunately, people who are considering selling their sites contact su to ask how much it could be sold for, if we want to buy it, etc. We've build a decent reputation that we're honest and always good for our money, that helps. And if somebody wants to sell their sites, they're always welcome to contact me. I might be interested ;-)

Quote:

It seems none of your TGP's use trading scripts or blind links. Why is this? What is your opinion on these forms of trading?
We use scripts (rb4, by www.scriptkeeper.net, which is specially customized for my needs and runs vewwwy smoothly). It helps me to track my trades just like others do. We list trades according to productive traffic though, because we send out non blindlink traffic (thus straight links).

I think a tgp/mpg is worth a lot more when it doesn't have blindlinks, because then it is mostly bookmark/ SE traffic driven and therefor much easier to maintain at the same traffic level (and to sell). Also it will probably do better conversion wise. If would put a couple of blindlinks on worldsex, I would probably have 1 million more in about 3 days. But well, it ain't broke, so why fix it ;-).
I understand why others do it, it is very tempting to get more traffic. And most websites which go clean, mostly get back to trading because they can't stand the slowly increasing numbers. So if you stop trading, make sure you get other sources of traffic.

hope this answers your questions Mike
regards
Pierre

As you can see I am working on that now Lens ;-)
I doubt though that having a high post count has anything to do with working long hours ;-), just different points of interests. I never understood why so many people spend so much time on the boards with often such useless threads, and not on their work. I read most of the important, business related threads on the boards once every other day or so. But I rarely post because you can't win any discussion here (at least from what I saw being listed sofar).

Was nice talking to you in Vegas,
regards
Pierre

Interesting question. I don't think so, obviously the hun is very successful and seems to have a winning formula with his site.

Pierre

Sosa 01-26-2005 11:42 AM

great thread Sleazy and great responses Pierre.

There seems to be usually this myth surrounding highly successful people in one's business that you might find yourself shy to talk to them, just because you have so much respect, and perhaps assume that you are not even worthy having the opportunity to talk to them. But Pierre, you seem like a normal guy afterall. And I think you'd be a great convo partner as well. :thumbsup

Hi Gowda,

Quote:

since anyone with two scripts, a host and some content can open a tgp, do u think for a tgp/mgp to survive they have to differentiate??
It would help. Anybody can create a site, that is the easy part. But without traffic you have nothing. Like having your Gucci store on the Northpole.
I think it helps to narrow your focus. So maybe not target the whole market, but try to corner a niche or even a subniche. That traffic mostly converts a lot better. Or do things better then your competitors...that will help as well.

Okidoki 01-26-2005 12:51 PM

Thanks Vladimir ;)

Sosa, keep checking our webmasters pages in a month or so from now.

Okidoki 01-26-2005 03:13 PM

Question #12: How long to you work ever day?

I don't really keep track, I start mostly late, becuase I quit late, so I can talk with others in spite of the time difference.

Question #13: How old are you?

31...

Question #14: Do you always fly first class?

Internationally, yes..within Europe, nope, no use.

That was pretty much it. If you have any other questions. Go ahead.

Rorschach 01-26-2005 03:54 PM

What do you think are the major threats to the current adult internet business model? What would be the biggest? What major changes do you see in the future?

Okidoki 01-26-2005 04:28 PM

Hi Rorschach,

Threads:
Biggest, I think would be problems with cc billing (processors going out of business, we will adapt, but it will quite hard, as rebills will be a bitch then).
Second: spy- and adware, it is hard for surfers to keep their pc's clean, hell, it is even for me sometimes a bitch, and I consider myself a pro.

Changes: Hmm...shakeout of smaller pay- and freesites. The surfers are demanding so much right now that it will be harder and harder for paysites to convert. Same with freesites.
Maybe an US gouverment which will try to ban porn by taking out our billing options. I don't know...I am glad that I live in the Netherlands ;), I am really proud of the fact that you can smuggle 3kg's of coke, get arrested at the borders, and only get a fine, because we get so many smugglers that our whole lawsystem gets all clogged up (I hope I use the correct english here)
