Thanks!

Yes, the overall file is vector but the top sphere graphic was created in Swift 3d and exported as a bmp, then imported into AI. With Swift 3d you can export to bmp at any size WITHOUT losing quality, so it has the same benefits as vector even though the output is bmp. Does that make sense?

Very akward choice. IMO, one of the worst entries. Congrats though ofcourse.

I agree, but as I'm beginning to realize, this is an adult webmaster board and many of the people who start logo contests here are used to seeing 3d bevels with flashy graphics all over the place (because that is ADULT design)

Which is unfortunate, because in my opinion mainstream logos are so different than that.. :) So from now on, I'm going to include a flashy beleved 3d logo with fades all over the place for any contests I enter, just to make sure I cover all grounds.

i think its a very interesting choice - nobody would expect a logo like that on a corp. biz card - im sure it will get lots of attention

Great idea, since I also have a more mainstream like style.

couldn't agree more...

but again if the only place this is going to be used is on the web, then maybe concerns about print work (stationery, biz cards, etc) isn't an issue.

i dont know if i have more of a 'mainstream' style, but i do strongly believe in simplicity, and iconic logos, which can be 'spiced up' later...

it may be somewhat short-sighted to choose to use a logo that is 'flashy' but doesnt translate well to mediums other than the web, but that's a lesson that, in my experience, needs to be learned by each client, in their own time

congrats to jawanda, for giving the client what they were looking for, which after all is all that really matters (or pays =P)

Thanks man, but I have to say this IS going to look SWEET on a business card as well as the web if implemented properly. It is endlessly resizable/can be recolored easily, and I think it looks pretty damn cool.

It all comes down to taste, and obviously not everyones' is the same.
:)

I'm sure it will :)

all i was trying to say (and i think at least part of a few other were trying to express as well) is that it's a shame that people holding the contests don't / can't look beyond the 'flashy' elements, or the bells and whistles, and can look at the basics of the logo work....

if i mistakenly interperted the sentiments of any others in the post, i apologize

:thumbsup
