KRL - I believe I somewhat get "it", "it" being the domain industry.

However I agree with pimporn here, and with most webmasters for that matter - $4.3 million is pushing the envelope here. I don't think anyone is on the outside looking in, and or a "inferior" domainer, simply because they feel the purchase price is a bit inflated.

Seven figures seems justified, but no more then $2 million in my opinion. Unless of course, you're a wireless provider. In that case, small feed.

I would guess that if you can resell it to a wireless provider for more.. you win.. if you can't.. ouch..

The background on this domain is supposedly it was set to be purchased by a dotcom for high 7 figs that went bellyup during the dotcom bust. There's also some questions about wether or not the shareholders would still have rights to it or not. Its got a messy background. But for a major telecom it's worth 7 figs.

If you are implying I don't get "it", I do in fact get "it". What I don't get is why somebody with 39 feedbacks, whose last item they sold was a broken shit ass laptop for $58, is gonna fork over 4.3M for wireless.com. Unless the guy bidding against him with zero feedback is gonna pay it, the same guy that kept outbidding himself. That domain is worth 7 figures but I smell something fishy here.

You would think for such a premium name, that this seller (or broker) would be able to find someone to format HTML for an eBay listing.

Maybe even come up with a better marketing pitch than "Remember there is only one Wireless.com and when its gone its gone!"

Anyway... who wants to take bets on which bidders are real and which ones are insiders?

judging from the recent uptick in Venture funding and the rise in domain action, looks like Internet/New Media ventures will be hotter plays in the future

God I wish I had it together to buy that bitch... Leasing it out alone would pay itself off easily. But a moron with too much money and not enough sense can drive it into the ground just as well.

Nice frigging domain though *sigh

What would you do with it if you leased it and what do you supposed a 4 million dollar domain would cost to lease a month?

To give you a guys a little insight into the domain industry, the traffic this name derives alone (could easily be 100,000 uniques/day), can justify the current bids... Tons of money can be made from monetizing on traffic.

my 2 cents.

Why would you use ebay for anything high profile? Seems to me they always get a bunch of idiots putting in fake bids that fucks up the auction.

in case you idiot trolls think it's fake - If i could get wireless.com for a million dollars I've have the money in the sellors' hand in less than a couple of days. (done properly of course, but finding a millon or more for a url like that wouldn't NOT be difficult)

corps aren't that smart and their executives certainly dont trawl ebay for domains
