Can the Steelers Beat the Wizard Belichick and His Patriots This Weekend?

I swear, after what Belichick did to Manning again on Sunday, the guy is like Gandalf the Wizard or some Shaolin monk or something.........a football genius who is unparalled as a coach........

question is, can the Steelers Defense and running game be enough to beat the Patriots and their wizard coach?

The Patriots will win 20 to 3 the steelers only won the game against the pats earlier this year because dillon was out

I think the only thing Belichick will really have to concern himself with is clogging up the middle on Pittsburgh's run offense and stopping the power running game; as you saw, Roethlisberger is not throwing the ball well as of late. I think the guy that is like Gandalf the Wizard will have some defensive answers for Big Ben. If he had them for Manning, yeah, he'll have them for Ben. I don't know about 20-3 though...........I'd say it'll be closer.

Think the Patroits Defense will have new suprises for Big Ben. True the Steelers tore up the Pats during the regular season, but the playoffs have been good to New England the last few years.

Brady vs Roethlisberger?

Belichick vs Cowher?

Dillon vs Bettis?

the only thing the Steelers have going for them is that it'll be at Heinz Field, but that is a big plus, and should be a factor in keeping it relatively close.......then again, I thought the Colts had a great shot at beating the Pats on Sunday until Belichick bitch-slapped Manning again.

Dillon would have been the leagues leading rusher had he not missed that game so to say that the pats won't do even better you are ill informed. The running game leads to the passing game. The patriots over the last few years have by far the best team and the D is going to stop pitt bigtime

now THAT'S an interesting stat now, isn't it? I think the title of mastermind gets thrown around a lot in the NFL regarding coaches, but this guy truly is a wizard of coaching strategy

I just don't think it'll be as crushing as 20-3 like the Colts game because the Steelers are far more physical........however, I do believe the Steelers weakness is their secondary which has been covered up by the Blitzburgh Defense of the front seven this year.........give Brady a lot of time and yeah, they'll put up 20 pts.

Great article. I'm thinking Patriots to win too. Not since the 49ers dynasty have we seen a team that is so strong in every area and plays so capably in big games.

From the article, I love this line...........

"With 30 seconds left, CBS's cameras showed Dillon on the sidelines -- he was glancing around the stadium and nodding his head, eating this up, almost looking like Cyrus at the beginning of "The Warriors." So much for Corey Dillon being a cancer."

I would love to see Eagles/Steelers in the big game but those Patriots have every aspect of the game covered...grrrrrr.....You guys are giving so much credit to Belichick, but what about Charlie Weis?? or Romeo Crennel??

Or this from same article:

"And that's why I watched the game alone. It went deeper than "I don't want the season to end," or "Man, that would stink to lose at home to the Colts." This was about respect. This was about four letters ("team") meaning more than five letters ("stats"). This was about a great team taking care of business at home, because that's what great teams do. This was about my buddy Bug calling me from the game in the second quarter and saying, "You should hear the crowd right now, I'm telling you, there's NO WAY we're losing this game."

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...simmons/050118

*************

damn that was a good read

I've revised my prediction the patiots will win by a score of 27 to 6 i'm giving the pats d-fence 2 touchdowns and the bus will enable the steelers to get into fieldgoal range twice.

I don't think that is the ONLY thing the Steelers have going for them. They have the #1 Defense in the League. The have one of the best Run Offenses in the league. They controlled the ball for more time than anyone in the league. They have very physical receivers. I think they have a lot going for them. I think the game is pretty even besides Big Ben. I really think it is all up to the game he has.

I'd take Brady over Big Ben in a game with all the marbles on the line anyday. Big Ben stunk last week; Brady plays his best when the games matter most.

If they don't let 'big ben' throw too much and the score doesnt get in the 30's Pitt has a chance.

Pats are boring, Brady is over rated, and I disliked most Bostonians I have ever met except the part of the good liberal ones.

EDIT: and I really havent had a team for 5 years but I like football and the Colts are exciting. I like players more than teams. I hate home town fan boys more than anything.
