Sponsor 'Leakage' Question

Hi,

I recently signed up with a very popular sponsor and I just found out to my suprise, that when I send traffic to any one of their 'niches', signups which result in THEIR other niches are NOT attributed to my account.

The only option which was presented to me by their marketing person was to request that my affiliate traffic not be shown cross-links (rather than simply including my appropriate affiliate codes for all related cross links).

This is the first sponsor that I have encountered which does not credit all signups resulting from my traffic.

I understand that some popunder and exit style sponsors leak their exit traffic to other programs for which I may not be necessarily credited, but I'm talking about sponsor signups from within their own network of sites and related to the demographic I'm sending them.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
-Dino

That is messed up they don't give you the follow me sales. Not only do we do that we have an Echo URL proggy, it's pretty generous but I think all sponsors should do it if they are really confident in their program and destinations.

While I'm not totally surprised that this happens, it's the popularity of the sponsor which floors me. Either the affiliates (who brag about how great it is) accept the 'no-follow-me' sales, or don't know about it, or I have misunderstood this (although the marketing rep was quite clear).

Why would I want to send traffic to a limited sales opportunity? Wasting my traffic by dropping the sponsors internal cross-links is just as bad as not getting the revenues for sales generated by it.

That's totally false- every link in each host directory tracks completely through all exits, primary pages, dialer billing, email address collections and even the phone sex numbers if you enroll (and if you do not then there is no 'default' phone sex number shown at all). There is no instance of an affiliate id missing in our hardcoded proprietary software.

Any HotelHeiress pops will contain the id of the referring webmaster in the source and url.

here is a sample host directory http://www.xpays.com/clients/00025/xx/list.html

Smokey should be banned or post an apology. For crying out loud, even the 404 traps in the tgp's track for the originating source webmaster. We go out of our way to track accurately and that is our gig.

Smokey is full of shit just like he was with info he sent us in the past. Remember smokey when you tried to assist us with a spoofer? My security people said your info was useless and you were full of shit and now I see why.

Smokey's claim is absurd! check the affil directory link- and test for yourself and Nothing has changed on our end. We track everything. We are the prototype for whitehat tracking.

My general initial inclination after learning that 'follow-me' sales are not respected would ordinarily lead to dropping that sponsor, but this is a very high profile sponsor and, frankly, I would like to have a chance to earn some money through them.

To avoid any unecessary dramas (like the one earlier up this thread), I'm not looking to call anyone out - I'm just trying to reconcile how such a large sponsor (over a million in payouts monthly) can succeed with this approach?

That's pretty much the only thing to do about it, if they fuck you, you say fuck them and move on.

Don't know if the mentioned program id pps or revshare, but if it's a revshare program i would consider anything that leads to sales that i'm not getting credited for the same as shaving.

If it's pps it may be another matter, but then thats why i don't care much for pps

Hey Paco

Thanks for the greet! Pretty muddy in BC right now. Houses are slipping down hills and the water levels are rising as the recent snow dump melts.

In that case they'r cheating you..
A program can't make a deal for a 50% partnership and then only give you 50% of the 30% that carry your code..

They claim that a unique affiliate account/code is required for each of their niches and signups are counted only if the correct affiliate code is used for that niche.

This seems completely contrary to the many sponsors who bend over backwards to get your traffic and give you every chance and credit for sales that are even remotely attributed to your surfer referrals.

This does not seem to be an issue relating to technology limits. They have no trouble tracking multiple affiliate ids and they have the means to enable/disable cross-linking on an affiliate by affiliate basis.

They obviously find value in cross-linking from one niche preview to another, but they CHOOSE not to include your affiliate link code for the related niche.

If anyone with a brain remembers i helped xpays out with this company who was #1 spot for google feeling lucky button , selling the xpays video.

They shutdown within hours of me reporting it and sent all sponsors an email.

It's official.

I got a second confirmation from the company that they do not credit 'follow-me' sales and I just got a letter from the sponsor indicating that, upon my request, they have deleted links from their main preview page (for my traffic) to any of their other related niches so as to not incur sales for which I may not be paid.

This has got to be the most ridiculous approach I have experienced in a long time.

Rather than crediting me for all sales my traffic generates, they limit their efforts to cross-sell it instead.

Of course, I closed my account.

I guess when you're as big as these guys, you can get away with BS like that.

Oh well - I guess you better all spam me with Dating Sponsors which DO NOT do what I've just described.
