AFF Question

About a year ago I noticed my AFF affilate code started showing up as p73757 instead of my code. I also noticed other peoples code was showing up the same p73757 when I looked at them.

I wrote AFF about it with no reply back from them. I asked on another webmaster board at the same time and was told that there was some hijacking going on with a spyware type program. After hearing that I quit using AFF.

Today I get an e-mail from AFF with some new marketing stuff that they are offering. A few have my correct affiliate code but most have the same p73757.

Does anyone know anything about this or what may be going on?

Thanks as always guys!

XOXOXO
*Krystal*

Thanks Happy.......what is one of your AFF pages so that I can see how your code shows up on my computer? I am starting to wonder if what I was told is correct about the AFF hijack program and the problem only on this one computer.

Thanks for everything.....

XOXOXO

Googling that PID brings up a lot of password sites.

It does sound like a hijack but not sure about the email unless you mean that clicking on links in the email also redirected to that PID which may imply the scumware is still on your machine.

I would contact Sagi from AFF in the morning, he will get it figured out but in the meantime as it seems likely the problem is on your end not AFF, I would try a removal tool like Hijack This .

Here's his contact info in case you still need it tomorrow:

u could have a program running in the background that is acting like a proxy. it detects the text "adultfriendfinder.com/in.php?id=whatever" and it parses that URL, changes 'whatever' to p73757.. go grab microsofts newest anti spyware program and do a scan

I got an email from AFF today re the new dynamic GEO banners but all PIDs in the email were mine. It definitely sounds like you still have the hijack on your comp.

Hello Krystal,

I'm going to have to agree with OzMan's assessment. It sounds like there's some sort of hijacking going on. It happens and we don't stand for it. But the most disturbing thing I read in your post, and something I have NOT encountered before, is the apparent over-write of your PID in an email that came from us. It sounds like you may have a piece of stealthy software on your machine that's replacing PIDded URLs wherever it encounters them. I'm in Miami attending a conference, but Sagi will sort you out. Call him at 650-823-7585. He'll be expecting your call.

Regards,

j-(ack Mardack, GM)

Yes......it is a hijack for sure. When I go to http://banners.AdultFriendFinder.com on any other computer I have it shows up with correct PID. On my main computer all my PID's show up as p73757. I have run ad-aware and hijack this with no success.

If anyone has another suggestion to get rid of it that would be appreciated.

I will be doing some video and photo shoots today about 70 miles away so I will check the board later tonight when I get home. Thanks everyone for your great help!!

XOXOXO
*Krystal*

p.s. - In the pic below is the cute little blonde I will be shooting with today. Great way to forget about hijack problems if I say so myself. Have a great day everyone!!!

For closure on this issue see http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...85#post6429685

Also Krystal was able to remove the spyware program by using Ozman's recommended Hijack This tool.
