ICQ group full?

I'm using ICQ 2001b and each time I add new people to my ICQ I get the message "current group is full" or "selected group is full" anyone know what is causing that?

Don't know "since when"... but if you log in to the icq server (port 4000 i think) you'll see a message telling you that 150 is the max... you may need to request additional capacity since that is probably their only way of managing spam.

I have 3 employees using it right now & about half the time it reports their online status properly & about half the time i get their message & about half the time they get my messages.

VERY bad for business... and if you're currently using it... you ARE losing messages.

Think about it.... it's the equivalent of a hacked password onto the ICQ network... or do you think you have a *right* to free irc chatting via an ad free & popular client?

Been using it since version 0.5something, or just about a year. The latest version gives me none of the problems you report.

I can still use ICQ99b for the same ad-free access to AOL's notwork, so yes, I do have the right to ad free chat. And, since when does IRC require the use of anything BUT a free client?

I tried to download the latest (still in testing phase) version of ICQ and it fucked my computer up totally.

I think it's best to wait until it is officially released for mainstream use.

I have that with ICQ.
Really sucks.
I never know if people got my msges and they don't know if I got theirs.
Since AOHELL took over ICQ it is one big mess.
And their ads suck.
Their servers can't handle it since the ads don't load 9 ot of 10 times.
Lets hope there'll come a real good chat program like ICQ soon.

ICQ is fucked.

I get my connection to others dropped routinely in the middle of conversations... so I'm still sending messages, and I think that they are going through, and the other guy is sending me msgs which I AM getting, and sometimes it takes a while before I realize that he's not getting the msgs. Usually I can tell right away, but its a pain in the ass either way. Especially when the person isnt there, and I leave them a few notes and they dont fucking get them. Jesus christ that makes me mad. I have to go offline then online to reestablish the proper connection.

AND icq always fucking thinks the other guy is offline, so i can never send more than 450 characters per icq. so when i go to copy and paste all the messages i've already typed to them (that they never got), i have to fucking split it up.

I'm done bitching.

I wouldn't be surprised if they will soon come with an ICQ PRO version for business use.
Always a good connection no ads and no pissed off people that think you ignore them while it is ICQ that is not sending the msges well.

ICQ is from AOL now so I really won't be surprised if they would charge money for a good working version.

I have been using ICQ since 97... and it is only since they went to the "ad" service that I have had problems. I experience the "lost in space" feeling .... not knowing if messages are getting through, lost connections although I appear to be online...

I am also a long time user of IRC and I feel ICQ is experiencing the "lag" effect that IRC evolved to.

It is a shame that I rely on ICQ as much as I do for business communication or I would definitely ditch it, the frustration is really getting to me.

I never really had a "no send" situation with icq... I think it's you people being too anoying and the excuse they give :P j/k..

my icq is messed up as well..

it just crashed all the time until this week... nothing changed at all... just is no longer crashing..

but everytime I'm not the first to exit a chat, it just stays there unless I alt-f4 it..

ICQ 2001 is completely Bullshit!
Do you ever seen ICQ released a non-alpha or non-beta software since 1998? I don't think so. Never use 2001!

2000b is better, (anyway 99b is best, but mirabilis cut off its support), works faster and less problems.

i dont think so
it seems godd to me

for 99 what kind of support you want?
it is still runing when i install it

strange thing for me is

why they release 2001b at the end of 2001
it must be 2002b

I definitely agree.

Why can't the fucking thing at least just say 'your message did not go through?' when it doesn't? I mean, how fucking hard is it to program that properly?

As a general rule , I always installed icq99b in 2000,icq2000 in 2001 and so on...first releases always suck.
Now, my icq2k always crashes when is somebody's birthday

Btw, icq2001 keeps the database of each user on their servers ?

Yeah, I found a 'way' somewhere to change the window information in the program, so particular windows won't load the object that holds the ads. And it worked. Even resized the windows to make them smaller to remove the space where the ad is supposed ti be.

But I did it on a friends computer, and it fucked it up. Maybe I wasn't being careful... but it wasn't a difficult task, so I don't think I did anything wrong.

Anyway, point is, be careful if you're going to be messing like that...
