CNN Porn News

Looks like Cresent is gunna be having a hard time rebilling their customers now. They have to let them know before the the rebill goes though.. Sucks!

I hope this isnt the wave of the future.

"The $30 million will be distributed to consumers who have been defrauded by Crescent Publishing.

If that proves impractical, the money will be divided equally between the U.S. Treasury and the State of New York, the FTC said.
"

ROFL!!!

The honest companies will rise to the top,

its becoming more and more that if you play with fire you will get burned.

Alot of programs are playing with Fire, I welcome this move.

Boneprone, I dont think its possible to punish everyone for a few people about the emailing the people for recurring.

Other programs I heard in the same boat.

From what I heard, Max Cash has to do the same thing. This is what someone told me, so I have not confirmed this.

But I hear alot of people bitching about Max Cash conversions lately, maybe that is the reason.

Isnt it the billing company though? Or is it the company that did this?

Most of us leave this all up to the billing company. Were they doing their own billing?

Or with 64 porn coporations involved, it sounds like a billing compny fucked up and got them all in this mess.

During the Portland AWE I was talking to the fat Attorney there, and some other webmasters, and we were talking about this one particular billing company.. I forgot which. But I guess they were forced into writng the surfer 2 days before they rebill to let the surfer know that they are gunna be rebilled in 48 hours unless they cancel now..

WTF! There goes a lot of cash.
Im thinking these 64 companies involved here are goign to have to do the same. I think its all on the billing comapny involved here.

I was at the Series, both nites in AZ -- last nite was the most incredible game of anything I've ever seen in my life!

All I can say is read the article closely or go and look at the actual FTC settlement terms if they are up yet.

Y'all know I don't comment directly on other peoples businesses.

If i understood this article right , they have advertised their sites with free memberships , they had a creditcard column just to prove that the customer are of legal age, and they have charged them anyway for 20-90$ recurring. If thats true , then if definitly a big fraud from this company.....

I think Cresent has been dealing with this case for well over a year.

If you had ever visited these sites, it was pretty obvious that these guys were going to run into trouble.

I heard A lot of these big paysites make it really hard for visitors to cancel their accounts. maybe they should make that available too.

MrBrian - It's about time somebody got in here that knew what they were talking about. I know you know a lot about this as well.

Crescent is NOT a billing company. They are a company who setup a large network of paysites that were completely misleading. You had to enter your credit card # to prove you were over 21 so you could enter the 'free' tour. Then without you knowing they started billing you. Crescent had the largest Adult marketing campaign ever launched. They were doing tens of millions of hits a day.

Trust me here. Them settling for $30 million was a steal. I'm sure they made 100 times that.
