Calculating hosting

I am trying to calculate if it is worth it to use paid hosting for galleries.
Would this be totally inane:

Size of complete gallery = 1 MB.
Suggested conversion with sponsor = 500:1 ($35 per signup, non-recurring).
Bandwidth pricing = $1.08 per GB.

Example:
100K unique visitors = 100 GB. traffic. = $108 expense.
To cover those costs, I would need 4 signups (4 x 35 = $140)
With 100K visitors and converting at 500:1, I would need
4 x 500 = 2000 hits to the sponsor. That is a CTR of 50:1.
Meaning that 1 out of 50 (or 2K / 100K) will click my sponsor
links on the gallery.

I plan on driving the traffic to the galleries with Russian Submitter
and submitting 2-5 by hand.

Comments? Are my numbers way off?
Is the expected click through rate inaccurate?

I think 100 GB Bandwidth for 100k uniques is pretty much. I would set a maximum of 50 gb. When I get like 100k uniques a day maybe I burn like maximum 10gb of bandwidth.

But that's just what I think!

Good Luck,

If the gallery is 1 MB your total traffic would be about 20 GB for 100k visitors, not 100 GB.

1 MB. x 100.000 visitors = 100.000 MB.
100.000 MB. = 100 GB., right?

This is, obviously, worst case scenario:
Every unique visitor downloads the complete gallery.

It is the worst case scenario since it is unlikely that all or even half of the visitors will view every single image in the gallery.

Like I said, I am *thinking* of moving to paid hosting.

The pricing example is from 321 Host-It

1mb per gallery? geez havent you ever heard of picture compression? 30 compressed pictures is like 500kb. Plus not all the 100k visitors visit your whole site.
When I get 100k/traffic I usually burn around 11GB/bandwidth.

In my own experience, you'd be making 1 gig per 10k visitors to your paid hosting galleries, 100k=10 gigs, this as an average, also, depending on your salesmanship, your hosting expense should be 10-20% of your total earnings or better, if you can keep within these numbers, everything should be fine.

I'm available if you need help or some tips on paid hosted galleries, my ICQ is 48690894

(and check the TGPdeal on my signature, if you will)
