coolwebsearch gets picked up by adaware. Then just delete the other exe's it made. Also make sure when you load up your browser their landing page isnt ur default page.

I've got this shit on my comp too. As yet there is no definitive way to remove it, unless you're such a nerd as can handle it, although reinstalling windows would work (I don't want to do that cos I lost some stuff the last time). I went into the registry and deleted some of the keys but they came right back.
None of the anti-spyware programs even touch it.

On my travels to Tallinn and Moscow next week I'm going to see if I can't find out a little about the organisation which pushes this piece of shit. I've had it with adware and would happily pay for someone to blow these fuckers' brains out.

If it's a strain not able to be removed with any of the programs listed above. Try the new Shit remover from the microsoft.com website, it's actulay a decent tool to use.

BPS removed and finds about 20- 30 instances everyday on my box
Tried all those free programs including the Microsoft one and they find "some" but BPS found way more and removed it..it works for me

Using all the above I couldnt remove a new strain of the about.blank variation of CWS. Tries the new M$ tool and it cleaned me right out. Thanks for the heads up though.

Hijack this, home page hijacker has removed about.blank in every computer that had that I have come across. That sucks if another varation is out there.
