Tootie,
FANTASTIC! So then I should have my 6 paysites and 5 MGP templates for each one along with my PSD's delivered by midnight tomorrow? I look forward to this being over tomorrow 2 full months after pre-paying you. (Brad starts holding his breath) |

Uhh, no offense, but for all the work you just listed, yeah, two months sounds about right, if you take into account that you're not Tootie's only customer. Talk about impatience! I've never heard of someone coming to the boards to bitch even BEFORE a designer MET their deadline. It might have been more appropriate for you to wait and see if the deadline was even met. Cripes. Some people need serious chill pills. Hope you're feeling better and get caught up, Tootie. |
When we moved we were off line for a week. Part of that was due to the cable people not keeping the appointment. :( I thought we would have a bunch of upset people but thank goodness we didn't. I hope you're feeling better hun.

Have a heart... or at least, some common sense. |
Just glad Tootie's still around :) :thumbsup

Hey Tootie, here is my idea, since the others are pissed off already let them stay pissed off and finish my design first since I am still a happy customer (and have not complained). :thumbsup

Hey Tootie... thanks for the clarification but I would LOVE you to confirm you've received my payment of $1500 I've sent on December 28th.
I mean, at that time I did not feel like you were over-booked at all... you said a few a your clients did not pay and disappeared, etc... so it looked as if you were looking for work. I've sent you emails/ICQs in the last week to know if you got the $1500 and received nothing back. If you think it takes a lot of time to reply "Yes I got it but I'm booked as of now, I will contact you back as soon as possible, within 2-3 weeks" it would have save me a lot of time trying to contact you, searching on the boards to see if you are still alive or not. I mean it's a business and it works BOTH ways. If you pay someone $1500 you expect to receive at least confirmation that the money has been received. Imagine I did not see this thread today... I would have probably contacted my bank and my lawyer or something... taking me a lot of time and problems just because you are ignoring the emails. TIP: Get yourself an email management script and send an announcement to all your active clients at least once per week if you don't want them to panic and send you dozen of messages. You create the problem by not responding at all. Oh BTW, I don't need the work done before 2 months... so no stress here. I Just want you to confirm it's PREPAID. There's nothing I hate more than sending money then... nothing. Thanks! -John |

This job was originally supposed to take 2 weeks (as estimated by Tootie) and be finished around December 15th. The Jan 18th deadline was a final deadline before I was to demand my refund. I should also note I did not come here to bitch about the deadline not being met I came to bitch about the lack of communication that is upsetting more clients than just me. Ultimately I got what I needed out of this thread, a public response from Tootie promising my sites be finished tomorrow. If everything comes together as I hope and trust they will, I will be another happy client of Tooties. |

Tootie still not replied to this thread ? Sounds weird...
|
stop whining.

I wouldn't want to do business with her after reading this thread. Seems like she needs to learn communication is key to a good relationship.

It sounds like the main problem is lack of communication on Tootie's part. Not many designers are PREPAID for their work. Most either get paid at the end, or they get paid a partial amount up front and the rest upon completion.
It appears that many people, seeing and hearing how broke she always is prepaid her in an effort to help out her financial situation. I think this is very nice of the people involved. From the sounds of the amount of work she has taken in, the vast quantities of it, she accepted a great deal of money, which you would think would be able to cover her bills. It appears she got sick with pneumonia, but pneumonia once on antibiotics is a short term illness. You feel like crap for a week or so but are not bed ridden (My daughter has had pneumonia 12 times so I have a great deal of experience with the illness). Problems arose when Tootie felt that her first priority was to complete work rather than informing her customers of how long it would take to complete their designs or even that she received the money they sent her in good faith. It is good business to communicate with clients and if a customer is still asking after 3 weeks if she even got the money there is a problem. My suggestion would be to take the time out and email every client that is waiting for work, even if it is just a form email and state you are behind by so many days/weeks. That their work WILL get done and you DID receive payment for the work and thank them for their extreme patience. I personally don't like seeing customers who have PREPAID for work being given a hard time because they are unable to get any information regarding their order. Tootie accepted their money, apparently spent their money, so it is only right she could at least give them some idea as to when they might be receiving what they paid for. |

Tootie, just confirm me you received payment and I will wait patiently until you contact me. That's all I'm asking. Otherwise I will contact my bank ASAP, not in 2 months from now. |

I don't know Tootie. Should she comminucate better with her clients? Probably. Am I going to post several long ass comments about the matter? Fuck no. |

What type of excuses exactly? For not getting work done as promised or not being able to do the work? |
There is an important lesson here for any small service or content provider. If you're good at what you do then you will get behind but cutting yourself off from the world while you catch up is like giving yourself the kiss of death.
In a business like this where so much work comes in from personal recommendations it is pure insanity not to be available to at least talk to potential clients. If they can't talk to you when they need work done then they won't come back when you are ready to talk to them. The other important thing to do is to even out your cash flow and you can't do that if you cut yourself off from the world while you get caught up with a backlog. If you do then you will find yourself in the same situation that Tootie mentions here - she says she is working her nuts off but she now has no income. If you can't even out your cash flow it doesn't matter how much work you get, you won't survive or you will be constantly coming back to boards like this one begging for work because you can't feed the kids. |
