Because Americans spend more than double what their allies do on military and weapons and "WMDs" and those allies spend double what their enemies do... meaning America spends more than 4 times as much as their enemies combined and for what... to invade? And why is it that no other country can have weapons of any kind but American can sell it to them without penalty?

Because Americans will invade another country in their efforts of telling them how to live and then start threads like "why do so many of you hate America" in attempts to tell the rest of the world to "mind your own business."

So why does most of the fucking world want to move here?

And that was just the 20th century!

The Sultan Of Smut 01-13-2005 11:47 AM

I think there must be a distinction made between hating the concept of America and hating Americans. I don't think anyone here could possibly say that they hate the people of America. I certainly don't. I don't even hate the origianl concept of America. What bugs me is that the origianal concept of America has been distorted and it's not a recent event. Bush has just brought it to everyones attention.

I am Canadian but have a huge amount of respect for what the US constitution was trying to accomplish. The American revolution wasn't as far as I could tell a popular uprising but an insurgency sponsored by rich land owners that were sick of brutally high taxes being imposed upon them by the British. After the British were driven out those in power could potentially have done anything they wanted but instead drafted a set of rules defining the role of citizens and government. From there it was decided that those rules were not good enough and several amendments were drafted further limiting the power of the government over the people.

Excuse me if some of that is wrong but it's just my interpretation of the events and I believe there has been a shift in official American policy, both domestically and internationally, over the past 150 years from responsible government to building an empire and I think it's the empire stuff that pisses everyone off.

Feel free to flame me.

Oh yea and if it wasn't for us Americans the rest of the world would still be opening their canned food with hammers and chisels, because we invented the can opener too.

ahum.... americans are all imported from the rest of the world accept for the native americans. There is no original american identity, you are all imported! But we invented the can :winkwink:

"British merchant Peter Durand made an impact on food preservation with his 1810 invention of the tin can."

But it does seem a little strange that he didnt think of an opener too? I but him and his friends sat around ages, hungry thinking what to do with them :upsidedow

Paco, of Large Cash. 01-13-2005 12:21 PM

As posted before: I do not, nor have I ever hated the United States of America (US, USA etc) - I actually do not hate any country.

Yes, there are some less desirables in EVERY country but I do not hold that against the country, otherwise I would hate Canada and possibly the entire world.

I BELIEVE, the US always in the spotlight or the centre of attention is because of their power or influence as well size (on every level). More plainly put, haters always hate the big dog cause they cannot keep up let alone catch the tail.

I view the entire "America is full of bastards..." thing kinda like a child being pissed at everyone in the store because his/her mommy did not buy the toy or lollipop.

Tuckin in that lower lip, suck up the tears and fucking move on! Oh yah ... haters, would you like some cheese with that whine?

Go Bush go!

Personaly I've no problem with much of the US and have very good friends and family who are from the US.

However I'd hazard a guess that your total inability to see the points that do piss off others is 95% of the cause of the dislike in the first place. Even to the point were you can't see for the most it isn't hatred and certainly isn't envy :upsidedow

(muslim countries excluded from the above remark about it not being hatred)

My only :2 cents: in this thread as they're far more fun to read than they are to burn bridges pointlessly in :)

Paco, of Large Cash. 01-13-2005 01:35 PM

If no one really 'cares' about them (or is not envious) why are eyes and ears always on them? (Everyone asks for something from them while whispering curses from the other side of their mouths. Once they have they speak up.)

They bitch and complain about the US yet do they do any (and I mean any) business with them? Eh?

If they are such monsters, stand-up grow some balls and do not trade with them, or
S
T
F
U
please.

Why don't you tell me when the last time Australia asked the US for anything?

In fact, name any first world country that asks the USA for help.

It always seems to be the US asking other countries for help rather than the other way around.

It always seems to be the US asking other countries for help rather than the other way around.

There is a huge list of countries available online of all the countries the US is currently aiding - their hand out does not end at the most recent (tsunami): Caribean countries, India, Madagascar, yadda-yadda.

As for what '1st world country' is helping what 1st world country' ... why bother - that makes no sense to me and sheds nothing.
(Oh, did you see that rich guy in the Benz give the rich guy in the Rolls that hundred dollar bill and grey poop...)

As with this industry (ratios really do not mean shit unless you see the entire picture for the get go), I only care about the total dollars to total recipients - sure the US's total percentage has slipped but the total dollars have increased.

And yes, the US does ask others to help them help other less fortunate countries, or better yet, help whip some radicals from this earth.

I am not here to try and tell you to stop with the hate, just answered a question as well provided an opinion.
