Keep doing your thing D$. Your name is starting to ring bells for real in the music industry circut. Someone mentioned you to me yesterday and I didn't even bring the Ball up at all. Sounds like it's time to take it to the next level. :thumbsup

But let's get the facts straight. For any party thrown in Vegas, there are security issues. Any party in any major venue. 3 out of the 7 Players Balls in Vegas we had no problem, so I've pulled miracles off int he past. Now if you had a perfect time getting people in last year and use the same venue, same security and more staff to help assist me, wouldn't you agree that there should be no issues? Well, there were. And it sucks. Should I never throw another gig because my parties are so hot that we get a mess at the door that professional security can't handle? No. Only 10% or less of our crowd GAVE UP. They all got in if they waited. Once a club is at capacity, people have to wait. We issued the same number of passes as last year too. I had more meeting about the structure of the lines at the door. But let's end this issue about the door with this comment. The party is the SPONSORS party more then it's D$'s party. I didn't even give myself a sponsorship for Marketingfirm, D$ Show or any of my other businesses. If it's the sponsors party, should THEY of had a person at the door to ensure their people got inside? Why do I take 100% of the fault? Anyone could have had a person stand there to make sure they got inside. You're not a hater, I see your points. The night was a HUGE success. For only 5% of the people to give up and leave in a wait isn't bad for a big time exclusive event, pretty good actually. I strive to get 100% of the people inside and I'm hard on myself when it doesn't happen. But don't lose sight that it's in Vegas during the busiest time of the year, CES. And it's the hottest party in Vegas ALL YEAR. I'd say we accomplished a lot. And the sponsors should be proud as hell. Most sponsors are thrilled with this event. |
Quote:
If I stopped doing these events, people would miss them greatly. It's too bad that the thousands of people who I stoke out every year don't post their support when the haters come out. I can have only 5 haters who never even got in the party slam the event and the masses believe that it must be unsuccessfull because of them. THIS WAS THE BEST PLAYERS BALL EVER! And everyone who was inside for it would agree. Not only that it was the best Players Ball ever, but also the best party they've ever attended and best concert they've ever seen. You'll never again see artists of this level perform for a smal private industry party of less then 2000 people. |

Shann I'd like to see you throw a party in Vegas the land where anyone with a $20 or $100 bill gets in anywhere
I don't care if Bill Gates throws a party in Vegas rest assured if someone is in front of his momma in line with a hundy they get in ... simple as that Anyone that's a "Player" knows how Vegas Works. I didn't stand in lines for cabs, restaurants, or any parties know why? I was guy that was shtupping money in the pockets as well- was that you standing in the long line after CES to go to the airport? Sorry I scooted by everyone with my $20 and was there in 5 mins...LOL Pimp Pimp Hooray |
Nice idea. Mixing up the music groups will only benefit the show because it will appeal to people who have other tastes in music.
You just know that once one of these Hollywood stars or sports stars finds there way to a Players Ball, more will follow and it will be bigger then ever. Keep fingers crossed :) |
Quote:
We spent more on cabs and other services than on ourselves really, but didn't wait in lines or deal with any bullshit either. Your breakdown is exactly correct KB. |
Quote:
I could have gone mainstream years ago with this, but I've stayed true to my industry and gave our industry something we can all be proud about. And I agree, these stars want to go, but it's still hard for even them to get into, which is cool enough with me. But look out, we will cross it over in 2005, starting with MTV2's coverage. |

I believe I was one of the first to pick mine up on the day, thanks again for the Heinekens D$ :thumbsup We could have easily sold my wife's card outside the event as people were asking how could they get one but she wouldn't part with it. |

I actually did something better then date how long you're been a member for. The first issue of Player Cards are Platinum. So when we do this again, they will be gold cards. Notice the back is platinum? :pimp |
D$ - You've tossed a lot of rock names out over the years but there has never been a rock act perform at the show. Not sure what % of webmasters are rap fans and what % are rock fans, but if you can get a decent non-rap act just once I'm sure that would go a long way towards making the % that feels like they are going for the fun and not the music actually enjoy themselves more.
I've been to 5 Player's Balls and have had fun at each one but about the only time I enjoy rap is while on SweetT's bus so having a decent rock band just once would make it all the better. I know there are a lot of webmasters who would agree with me. I still say you need The Bloodhound Gang :2 cents: Keep pimpin and hopefully rockin in the future. |

I've been getting lot's of unhappy trade show exhibitors hitting me up, so I know there's a need for something different. For years I was like family with AVN, then one day, they fired my wife while she was under contract. So, shame on AVN for not taking care of the people who took good care of them like my wife Jennifer Rosenblatt. Now, I don't mind doing something at the same time. All they had to do is honor a simple contract and pay her what's owed. It's time for the Internet industry to take this industry back. |

Here here man. Good to know I am in an industry with people like you D. :thumbsup |

I don't know about you, but 4 days is about the most time I want to spend in Vegas at one time |
If you do not believe this was not the BEST players ball to date I Offer this as evidence.
http://www.ialien.com/spamtec.jpg And a video clip: Check this shit out I have no doubts that this years show was the best by fucken milestones. Even for sponsors that get the cross over mainstream attention and buzz. THis bitch crossed borders! |
can someone make a poll
Would You Attend A Webmaster Show if It were Any Other Time in Vegas Than CES? I'd persoanlly like to have a cabana at a hotel like the Hard Rock during a porn party...wouldn't you? I think this summer instead of hurricane riddle florida we do something in Vegas |

I have a question about the passes . . . will there eventually be so many passed out that everyone will have them and it will become a matter of how many you have? Just need to know if I should continue my collection http://cherryredass.com/pcard.jpg |

I can't give everyone a Player Card or it will dilute the concept. Here's the full scoop on these cards. Player Cards are a way of giving VIP without an area. I've learned that getting rid of the ropes is the first step towards everyone being VIP. Private suites are different because only the 3 main sponsors can give those passes to their closest friends and associates, and they only get like 75 suite passes each. So the rest of the venue is all equal, until security sees the upstairs is at max, then they created all kinds of BS about not being able to get up there. Truth is, VIP is now done with Player Cards (sponsored by Epassporte). I gave the sponsors a way to invite guests through emailing them with a code. Once these guests are registered, we follow up with a secret link to sign up for their Players Card, using their unique ID (player code). Then we sent all registered guests and Card holders an email with a date and location to pick up their passes and cards. About half of the Player Cards actually picked them up, so they got stuck outside in the cold for longer then they should have. Most sponsors didn't even send the codes out because they wanted to wait to give them in person in Vegas. I disagree with that because they should have a good idea of their closest friends and biz associates, send them their code so they can get a Player Card. So, I will give a second issuing of Player Cards in the next week or so. We were prepared to issue 1000 Player Cards out of a 2000 capacity venue, half of the people should of had a Player Card to get in quicker. The first ones to get a Players Card will be the ones who didn't get inside due to the wait, or the ones who waited a while and got inside eventually. We'll be using Players Cards in our future parties, city to city for webmasters. Other webmaster events will give some sort of perks for having a Players Card, either free drinks, discounts or line priveldges at certain other parties. We'll see who wants to offer benefits to card holding members. The best thing about these cards are, they are determined by the paying sponsors of the party, not just me. So if a sponsor invited you before the other half of the venue was invited, you must be a VIP. It's a fair and balanced reward system determined by the sponsors. I'll try and make the sponsors happy by offering some more Player Codes for them to send out to their people who gave up outside or got frustrated with the wait. The Players Ball has a new tradition that will be recognized forever, Players Cards. Once the full 1000 cards are issued, I'll consider printing a smaller amount for next year. If the venue is 2000, I'll do only another 500 cards in gold. They both will get in right away, but card holding members will respect the platinum cards more because they got them first. If we have a 10,000 capacity venue next year, we'll issue about 2,000 cards. :pimp |

Sorry D$ the Players Ball just wont do in the afternoon....... it will be just a watered down version of the real thing :2 cents: |
Nichewealth had a great time at the players ball. I like the sound of your idea for future shows... But maybe on a bit smaller scale.
And KB... fuck I would love it if internext was at a different time that CES... I hate CES. Bang Bang - ! ! |

I haven't been to previous balls, except for San Diego, so I can't really compare, but I had a nice time. Didn't wait in line at all though, so I'm not sure what people could be complaining about. Maybe I just invoked some kind of Los Angeles mutant ability and went in a different door or something. High caliber artists for parties of less than 2000 are pretty common in LA. My favorite thing about living here. |

Ooh, I like that idea. I am not down with Florida in the summertime. Hot and sticky in a bad way. |
it's a shame soo many people come to knock it -- it's damn near impossible to pull off a perfect party. Every year it's better and better.
I dunno about the afternoon party. There definately weren't enough of them this year. But there is also a declining number of evening events. Gotta leave the afternoon's open for the AmateurBash !!!! =) |

D,
I've worked security before for nightclubs, and am fairly well known in the industry. Let me know if you need a hand next time, I can sincerely help out with the security problem. |

Actually, great idea, I might want to do a summer show in New Orleans. We had a great Players Ball at State Palace Theater back in 2000. |

Agreed, I could never understand why anyone would want to go to Miami in August. I can only guess that the rates are a lot cheaper then. |

We had a little confusion with the limo shuttles at Mandalay. We got there around midnight and the dude at the limo stand told us the limos had stopped running and that he heard the party had been cancelled because no one was there. We didn't believe it though and we called the Prana Lounge who confirmed the party was going strong. So we got into line for a cab as a limo pulled up. I saw people with passes getting in, so Brat and I hopped in. When we got to the party, we waited no more than 5 minutes at the door. We got in and had a wicked time. The service at the bar was incredibly slow (at one point, someone behind me joked that I was wearing a hat which made me invisible). Once the booze got flowing, the night was so much fun. Cypress Hill and Digital Underground were off the fucking hook. Just to be clear, the two minor problems we had with the night were entirely out of D-Money's control and we didn't let them affect our night whatsoever. Brat and I can definetly say that hands-down, The Player's Ball was the best party we've ever been to and we're looking forward to the next one! D$, you're a fucking superstar. Fuck the haters. |

is a TESTIMONIAL! CHUUUUUCH! |

I've heard people say this was the best party ever, that was my goal. It's hard to have a goal that seems so out of reach every year, but this year we finally topped the 2001 Snoop Dogg Players Ball. They're both great parties, but this one had the right mix of sponsors, artists & venue (minus security). Thanks for the positive feedback. :pimp |
Nothing but love for the both of you! I'll make sure I meet ya in the near future, kBizzle!
I fucking love these pics: http://www.514bombed.com/vegas/playersball79.jpg http://www.514bombed.com/vegas/playersball49.jpg |
