"In theory, it should be possible to take cells from an HIV-infected individual, make them resistant to HIV infection with the modified gene and reintroduce them into the patient. A freind of mine in NZ found out he was HIV+ about 20 years years ago and hasnt had so much as a sore throat since. A couple of years ago this lab in Melbourne flew him over and took a load of his blood. They dropped some heavy hints that this sort of thing was in the pipeline.
