In 1995 I was using 1-900 numbers on my sites since there were no sponsor programs to speak of. I started using Webpower (at 2 cents per click) and Cybererotica at about the same time. I don't know which check came first but WebPower was about $1,200 and Cybererotica was over $3,000.

Back in 1996-1997 it was relatively easy to spam SEs like Excite and Lycos to get like 30,000 hits to your pages.. I'm not saying that for a fact, but I heard some success stories
