This is the first time that i got a w-9 form in my life and maybe you know what to do. I'm living in Canada not USA. Should i sent that form back or not ??

Its Said On The Letter " If we do not receive your W-9 by november 2,2001 we will hold all your payments. "

Let me guess it's from Mac and Bubble right? Anyway I sent them about 10 sign ups before I got one of those.(My fault) I ate the money they owed me and told them to eat shit.. I don't give that info out to no fucking porn companies.. Fuck that shit..

I didn't pay and then the FBI came for me. All the agents were gay and told me to get naked or pay... I had no money and said that they got the wrong house. I pointed to my neighbours house and they went in...

The next day my neighbour went to the doctor and got a ASS-cast! which he is wearing till today.

BTW this event took place 10 years ago... I dunno about you but I would tell them that it was my neighbour...

All the more reason to be incorporated. They HAVE to do that in order to comply with US tax laws. Anyone that is a "sub-contractor" is required to fill out a W-9 and will get a 1099 at the end of the year.

I'm not sure what the laws are in the US for out-of-country salespeople, but did you ask them...and what did they say? There is probably a different form to fill out, maybe only on their end for that. It's not a big deal...what are you guys scared of? You make the money, you take the checks to the bank (or they get wired), so why not allow the company you do business with to comply with the law?

Personally, I want 1099's and W-9's. This is a legitimate enterprise and to try to fly under the radar makes it harder for the rest of us to defend ourselves as part of the business community.

My $.03 worth.

I'm afraid that they can charge huge amount of money. I allready earned 5,000 from them so ill give them my info. Another Question Can they fully charge me $5000 ? ( if they gone crazy and hate me)

I don't know what you mean by "charge" you, but if you don't comply with their terms of service, they don't have to pay you.

Realize that these companies have laws to follow in their own countries, even if you don't happen to live there. I live in the US, but do business with more than one overseas sponsor. I'm forced to play by their rules if I want to collect my money, including signing real contracts and mailing them back to Europe.

I honestly don't see how you can say "no" to their request and yet expect them to send you $5,000 in your case.

Playa is right, by the way, just cause it's a "porn company" doesn't make them any different than any other business. I'm a porn company too. I pay taxes and benefits just like any other business. Doesn't make my company substandard nor does it mean that I don't have to follow the law (in fact, I had better follow it better than most) nor that people I do business with don't have to follow them either.

This isn't hobby time, it's business plain and simple.

I hear ya this is a business and I treat as such but, I just don't send that type of personal information to faceless internet porn companies.. I was lucky that I found out in time that they wanted this from before I sent 5g's of business to them. I might re-consider my stand on this for 5g's though...hehe..

Just because you don't get mailed a form you have to fill out manually, doesn't mean they are not getting that info. Signup for *any* legit sponsor that's based in the US and you'll have to provide your name, address, and SS (or tax ID #). Just what do you think this information is used for?

I don't get the big deal, just seems this company is not exactly the best users of technology and still do things by hand.

Or am I mistaken?

sasush, was the W-9 form that you received from Interactive Gallery Inc, A division of New Frontier Media because I received one from them today. Can't say I have ever sent them any traffic before and I don't even know how to access my account to see if I have made money through them. I know I have never received a check from them. I think these guy's just like to spam real mail boxes with their crap. As for sending it back, fuck them. I live in Canada and there is no way I am filling out this form so they can give it to Uncle Sam cause he ain't my fucking uncle. These forms are for U.S. Residents or people who have worked in the U.S. of which I am neither. If you look right on the form under the heading "Purpose of Form" it says "Use form W-9 only if you are a U.S. person".

Yeah, I was actually guessing smartbucks. However, I signed up for smartbucks two years ago, and don't have many pages left with smartbucks links on them. Never did all that well with their sites.

Why do I get a w-9 now? Oh well, I'll just check those stats and see if they have any money I want.

I'm pretty sure that's what happens if you don't fill out the form. They have to withhold the money.

Sasush, a suggestion to you: We're talking about $5,000 US here. It's in your best interests to speak to a qualified accountant in Canada and ask them the question. You might also just pick up the phone and call your sponsor and speak to their accounting department. There's only so much that this discussion will bring and if I was you, and faced with a $5,000 question, I'd do everything possible to make sure I got the cash
