I sold my Corvette last summer and bought a big old Tahoe. I wanted the extra space because I have large dogs. I don't commute though, mostly coffee shop and shit like that. For me an SUV made sense.

I spend most (three out of four) weekends in the mountains.

My VW Golf turbo diesel (1000+KM/55L) has adequate room for most of my gear.

likewise on the amount of time spent..I drive a denali, but I hate the gas mileage.. what takes $50 for a trip I could get 3 or 4 trips for $25 of gas in a subaru outback or something small and similar.

Thanks for this article

Very true and well written article.

Why do Americans feel the need to drive these gas guzzlers?

Australia is now heading that way too.

I have a 2003 TDI Jetta and it's totally the way to go. Now if they'd just start putting TDIs in Audis.... the A4 quattro would kick ass if it was diesel powered!
