I find it quite disturbing that people can be more fixated and concerned about a brain dead person dieing than hundreds of thousands of completely brain "active" people dieing of starvation, aids, murder, etc. etc.

This is partially true. She can apparently breathe on her own and breathing is part of brain function. However, all the doctors say she will never recover in any meaningful way. I am not a doctor. Are you? I go with what they say, not what some conservative bible thumping congressman with an agenda says.

People on the right have been calling her husband a murderer and saying that he is only after her money. Some have even said that they will try to get the DA to press murder charges against him if she dies. Preachers in front of her hospice have been telling him that he's going to hell and that he's evil.

Yet this man has turned down 10 million to walk away from it all. How many people only interested in the $$ would do that? Yes, he is in a relationship with another woman, but this has been going on for 15 years. He says she wanted this. I BELIEVE HIM. By walking away from the money, he has more than shown his love for her. He certainly loves her more than the freaks who are holding a vigil outside her hospice and who will quickly move on to another cause as soon as this thing has come to an end.

If there is a God in heaven, he is the LAST person who's going to go to hell over this.

The guy got 2.5 Mil to take care of her and stated under oath she wanted to live and that was the basis of the 2.5 mil award. He then met a chick he fell in love with and had kids with her and then changed his story saying she wanted to die if she couldn't live a decent life.

If the guy had a story that was the same as when he got the 2.5 Mil then I would believe him and probably back him but he's changed his story because he wants to marry the new girl.

He needs to give custody to the parents and let them deal with her ?

Nice to see they jump in to "save a life" but where were they when the ban on assault weapons was lifted? I guess it's easier to take the right stand when special interest groups aren't lining your pockets.

The thing I don't understand is how so many on the religious right just take the party line on every fucking issue. It is so fucking predictable:

PRO life
PRO death penalty (a contradiction I still don't understand)
ANTI euthenasia
PRO guns
ANTI gay rights

Don't any of these people ever think for themselves? Do they just blindly believe everything their pastors or priests tell them to believe?
