starcraft was definitely addictive. I remember in high school we used to skip ENTIRE days of school goto an internet cafe, smoke some weed and play all day.

Embarassing to admit, I had over 400 days played of real time in EverQuest, and currently playing World of Warcraft -- however I'm responsible enough to maintain myself now and limit playtime to a casual status

Haven't played too many games lately. I like the Rebound series. Unfortunately I made it through the last one (Rebound Lost Worlds - Recharged) in one sitting

I was into MUDs heavily at one stage so it has to be Avalon for me. I even met the wife while playing it

Non-online there's a few...bubble bobble, the older final fantasies and a raft of RPG's

The problem with more modern games is often they're over too quickly. Burnout3 was great and is still excellent as a live game but I've finished all the solo games in it now

if console games count, then i'd say Katamari Damacy.

on the PC, the first few Heroes of Might & Magic games were really addicting

Championship Manager (a football management simulation. And that's football as in proper football, not your American game )

Fact - it is the only game ever to be cited in divorce proceedings, when a woman complained her husband's addiction to it contributed to their break-up!

Counterstrike, and starcraft.

Counterstrike damn near got me divorced back in the 0.52 days. I'd go for 24 hour stretches playing it, was part of a clan, etc. Bad scene... It's a minor miracle that I was able to do all that AND still get work done AND still keep my wife from bailing, cuz I can't figure out how I pulled it off now.

I have starcraft on my laptop. It's showing its age these days but it's great for killing time when flights are delayed or when whiling away the hours in the air (when not sleeping, that is).
