What's with all the graphics? (Rant)

WTF is up with all the affiliate programs/sites that insist on killing your system with a ton of unnecessary graphics, such as Flash.

I am not at the site to surf and look at the pretty pictures and design, merely to collect (stats or link codes) and get back to making money.

At the very least respect the busy webmaster and offer a toned-down
version.

... and it is times like this that make me say thank you to Mo for providing me with Adblock extensions for FF.

They all think that they have to look like they spent $100k for a design in order to be taken seriously. Like we'd all go "wow, they obviously have lots of money, I'll send them all my traffic!"

sounds about right.

I think they should worry about what really matters, being their paysites - remember who the surfers are and concentrate efforts there.

Some flash webmaster areas are really crappy. I hate flash login boxes that don't have a standard login box that comes up if you simply hit Enter allowing you to use your form filler.

it works with FireFox ... however it took me 20-minutes to block out all the ads and crap.

Again, thank you Adblock:

Bye-bye flash

I'm with Paco on this one.

Maybe my not being from the video game generation makes the 'cool shiny objects' on the b2b side distracting and pointess. What I'm looking for can be done with text only - the simpler the better!

I love sponsors who have clean simple layouts.

Don't even get me started on sponsors who throw popups at me on the b2b side.

OMG I agree! I have actually requested that some of my sponsors give me a text only stats area lol... and no, I don't want to use stats remote, I like refreshing =P

I think it's totally unnecessary to have high resolution, fancy, webmaster areas. I swear some stats areas could pass as a 4 page tour!

Yes, Large Cash has a small amount of Flash on the front page, before logging in, but not on the inside.

Yes, I am with Large Cash.

Yes, I use the Adblock extension in FF to block our own graphics.

I sincerely apologize if I seem or am being hypocritical - I am referring to the interior, but yes, we are guilty.

that's too much of an extreme stance.

there are particular cases in which flash can be very beneficial. www.ediets.com for example - click "Take a Tour" - very effective tour.
