i had an exchange student from austria a few years back who brought over several large bottle of belgium beer with the very strange stoppers on top. i loved them. if you have any reccomendations i would love to hear them. i'm always down for trying new beers.

nope 3 mort subite (sudden death) is nice, but im sure you can get chimay there its pretty common, there are different versions, http://www.chimay.be/ the blue one is nice, its trappisten made by monks, one of the last ones available
lachouffe is a fun beer, not sure if they export it, its easy to recognize by the lepricorn (how do you spell that lol), its in small and big bottles, really really gets you http://www.achouffe.be/ its not dark but still sweet
if youre really into sweet this is nice, im sure its exported called kasteelbier (castlebeer) i drink it lots very sweet very heavy (10+%) http://www.kasteelbier.be/ the same brewery makes st louis a cherry beer as well
im sure you know but the trappisten ones have yeast on the bottles, they are an instant headache if you drink that, its the oldest way to make beer takes long but gets the best beer imho
