COMPUTER NERDS! Help me!

I uninstaled a few programs and was playing around with System MMechanic last night and now my monitor is running slow - that's how it looks anyway. When I try to scroll down a webpage it doesn't move smoothly, it jumps down in spurts. Videos work fine. What did I do? How do I fix it?

I am using Win XP, ran Evidence Eliminator and all the best spyware so I know it's not that - I definately tweaked or removed the wrong thing.

And I now realize that yelling "COMPUTER NERDS" in a room full of sensitive geeks was probably not the best way to get a helping hand

your monitor must have a virus to be running that slow... I suggest buying a new one and selling that one to a Virus removal professional (myself) for $5

Odds are, it is not the monitor - if you have another you can verify by hooking it up.

Chances are what ever you installed is either causing a conflict (drivers or etc) or your system has been compromised.
- Did you run any of System Mechanic's tools? (You should always back-up your system before running software as such.)
- Did you scan the file (.exe, .zip or whatever) before installing?

If you do not have Norton Utilities (WinDoctor or SystemCheck) I recommend using Spybot - it contains many useful tools for Windows (aside from the basic) which may help. Also, it is free.

You are always welcome to donate the thing to me

If you are using the latest Spybot it prompts you for system restore point creation...if you have a recent restore point I would just do that...

once back to normal (or your previous state...) take your maintenance tasks incrementally and check performance with each change...
