OK so I am planning to move to the USA

I have a US corp in Nevada running for 3 years in my name.
I can bring around $1,000,000 to the US in cash (buy house etc)
I will be employing a couple of people in the US to begin with (more later)
I am currently a UK citizen
    I want to move by April/May 2005
Anyone any ideas how i can get a visa/ green card

This is serious. I need some pointers

    How do I do this.?

Why would you want to move from one high tax regime to another?

There are loads of countries which offer a much higher level of lifestyle than either the UK or US can offer and no taxes, or very little, but have a living standard (for folks like us) above anything offered by the UK or US.

All things are different for all people - I just value a lifestyle first then material shit.

        Just a thought :-)

Can we have a pre-nuptual agreement?

Cash has this nasty habit of depleting kinda quickly under certain conditions:-)

... with that kind of money you can move to the bahamas at any time .... shhhhh ... no taxes ... and you'll still have enough money left to buy yourself a boat and go to miami whenever you feel like it, think about it.

You might want to go for a L1 Visa. You will need to prove that you had a corporation in the UK that is alive and running though. Advantage of the L visa is that it basically becomes a green card after 2 or 3 years.

You might also, get yourself an H1 visa to work for your own corp in the US, it would be for 3 years and can be renewed once. There are some programs, that would allow you to make your H visa into a L visa and then a green card. Problem is that H visas get filled up pretty quickly and can get you bog down in H status without hope of a green card.

There is also the option of an E visa, aka investor visa, there is also some hope to make it become a L visa.

Any way you go, you will need to talk to a lawyer as there are many factors that come into play when moving to the US.

                        OR :-)

Just a simple example - there are loads more and often better, - Costa Rica.

If YDG's currency is still in Pounds Sterling or Euros - leave it in that currency unless buying assets in $'s - in which case he's going to get better value.

A decent home with pool blah in Costa Rica is going to be around $250K ish - no need for more, just bank it. From that point on - costs are very little. Home taxes are around $100-200/year for trash collection and all the usual stuff, - a maid is $200/month, same with a gardener/driver blah.

There are no taxes applicable on any revenue generated from the net and pulled into Costa Rica. Tho, why bring em in anyway unless you need money to spend? :-) Think "international banking".

                            Check above! :-)

All places are really dependant on what folks want... "paradise" is not necessarily of relevance if someone likes the middle of Manhatten etc.

Another country which still has connotations that, for some reason, puts people off is Nicaragua. The truth is Nicaragua is not some war zone :-)
Today, Nicaragua has excellent comms, decent roads (better than Costa Rica) and banking facilities are no problem.

The main factor about Nico is land values - tho these are being grabbed up now - there are still loads of deals on properties with character and all the original fittings blah.

The cost of living in Nico is about 30% that of Costa Rica and they welcome folks from abroad. Tax? They are something to hold the carpet down.

Dunno if a $1m is "wealthy" :-) It ain't that much!! It's only about 600K-700K UK Pounds. That buys a decent home in the UK and nada else! :-)

But.. depending where you decide to move it - it buys LOADS more :-)
