TopBucks

Got this from another mgs board what are your thoughts?

TopBucks Cookie & Pop Under Scam

If there was ever a program that points up how fair the ARS exit console system is to webmasters it?s the equally unfair TopBucks ENTRY console system.

We recently tried out Topbucks, but found that their stats site places a cookie on webmaster browsers that blocks the entry console chain from appearing to webmasters.

You can visit their sites all day long and think ?this is great, no exit consoles?.

However, if you delete that cookie, and the cookies for the individual TopBucks sites, you then get a POP UNDER entry console on TopBucks sites, featuring dozens of other links, none of which the webmaster get a share of. Not one single other Topbucks site in the pop under. This then spawns an aggressive series of other pop ups, pop unders and full screens! Exits are one thing, but pop under ENTRY consoles that steal the surfer right off the top are way over the line!

Ackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. We sent them 6,000 click without a sale until we finally started looking into what was happening with cookies and so forth!

if you see 6000clicks counted from topbucks you'll have sent about 10.000 clicks.

Whew, I'm glad I never converted over when Top Cash ended and Top Bucks started. Any idea why Top Cash went down or was it just for the sake of a name change?

Just clicked my code using netscape instead of using Internet Explorer (I use to check stats), and saw all pop-up crap.

Any of you know when this started ? I have more than 2000 clicks this month without signups, and was averaging 1:130 last month.

If they wanted to use various pop-ups, fine. But use cookies to don't show them to webmasters, tsc tsc.

C'mon, I was getting a pretty good ratio and now this. I thought it was because ibills problems.

It is amazing to see how one webmasters experience transfers over to them automatically being labeled cheaters and scammers.

I love the cookies - as it allows me to use the tours without the popups to come up with sales phrases. I assumed they were using them - as I checked out their site BEFORE I signed up for them.

ARS is great too as I have managed to get sales from their exit consoles. I am still promoting ARS, but I MAKE MORE - MUCH MORE with Top Bucks - even without getting paid their exit consoles. They were even rated number one recently by the statistician.

And NO that isn't for one pay period.

They are a great sponosor - always answer my emails and always pay on time. If you are not using them, you are missing out on something. I have no idea how the 6,000 clicks were sent.

They can put 9,000,000 popups and I still wouldn't care. All companies have ways of making extra money that you don't get. ARS - if they pay for dialers - I haven't seen any of it, but with less traffic sent to Cybererotica - I make money of their dialers every day now. But if you are sending WebTV Traffic to them - you will never make a penny as they redirect it. Solution - don't send WebTV traffic to them.

The fact is all three companies have paid me. And I will continue to try and target all three. All sponsors have advantages and disadvantages. Some pay more per signup, some pay every week, some have no minimum, some pay on exit sales, some pay for dialer revenue. But what it comes down to - is where can I make more money? If the see my FPA and don't like TopBucks, they get sent to a page talking about free trials with Cybererotica. TopBucks doesn't have a celebrity site - so I send that traffic somewhere else. But in general - the traffic I send them converts well. And that is what matters to me. I got payed for the sales that were missing from my account during the release of their new stats program - and as far as I know they paid everyone else for them too.

Motherfucker....
Okie it's enough with TopBucks. I thought it was my traffic quality drops my ratio down to 1:3200 while I used to make 1:90 with TopCash.
Now if i wanna have a big gold mine should i start the most honest webmaster program with 3rd party then shut it down after i got enough webmasters and move to my own tracking system?

ldinternet - this is simply not true.

Who FIRST brought up TopBucks increasing their price from $1.95 to $4.95?

ME:
http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/...ml/006553.html

Who FIRST posted screen shots of their stats problem?

ME:
http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/...ml/005362.html

BUT, they fixed their problems and are a great sponsor - so is ARS - which is why I defend both of them when people say stuff that doesn't make sense.

I am not afraid to point of their problems - I pointed out a problem with TopBucks POPUPS - a LONG TIME BEFORE THIS ONE:
http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/...ml/007026.html

When someone has a problem - I am not afraid to point it out. I was just laying out what I felt was a fair and honest assesment of TopBucks and other Sponsors. Most of the posts on this board are either stupid, irrelevant, or slamming legitimate sponsors.

I just pop in with my 2 cents from time to time, but am not blindly in support of TopBucks or any other Sponsor. When I can make 209 sales (I have made more than that) with under a 1:100 ratio with TopBucks - do you think the problem really is with them? When the statistician rated them last time as the #1 converting sponsor - do you really think the problem is with them? I can find posts claiming 0:9000 ratios for EVERY MAJOR SPONSOR. I suppose they are all shaving/cheating webmasters one way or another and we should all quit and sell amway.

I am not picking on you and realize you were somewhat joking, just want to lay the facts on the line. And I do tend to turn up on every TopBucks post, only because I have more experience with them than most of the other sponsors.

that'd explain a bit my bad SU ratios this period... however, i must say that i've been doing great with topbucks lately...

what worries me is that "plot" - it seems that the people who actually promote them (the webmasters) are un-able to see what their sites look like because of that cookie...

btw, i'd love to hear a comment from them on this board...

Hehe. Do you honestly believe a program that has no consoles wouldn't be advertising the heck out of that fact on their site? Were you born yesterday or the day before? I guess we all have our own levels of cynicism and distrust, I, for one, perceived the TB script as a clever way to save me the agony of slogging through their consoles when reviewing their tours and I appreciated it. TB is a good program and you are throwing money away by dismissing them out of hand based on your misguided and totally jaded reaction to this innocent script. I am sure they had no idea anyone would actually feel tricked by it since it's so blatantly obvious that they are doing it.

Excellent point. Then again, if the Hun was *really* banning programs for the reasons he states on his site he would be forced to ban 90% of his own sponsors too now wouldn't he?

I think, what topbucks did isn't exactly bad... i mean as long as everyone is still making signups its good right ? I mean sponsors take a lot risks maintaining a program, chargebacks, etc I think its fair that they make alittle side cash out of this. I mean alot of sponsor have under pops , exit pops etc, its not something new =)

Gee I wonder why our old buddy Allison hasn't posted here. Heh heh.

You guys would piss your collective drawers if you ever saw the size of the checks the TopBucks guy gets from other affiliate programmes.

Oh yeah if anybody actually gets a $250 sign up bonus check from him I'll cash it for $500, ha.

Maybe they actually give Allison off on the weekend. I know she wasn't there today - as I was emailing someone else there about another matter.

TopBucks/Cash has been around for years. It seems no one can be pleased all of the time. I would love to take you up on your offer to double bonus checks, but I won't be getting one as I am not a new affiliate. Will you double regular checks too?

I have never heard of them not paying anyone or paying them late. I see no reason to shaft people out of $250 when they pay people thousands every two weeks. I will be putting my regular check to good use - as I have been every two weeks.

Please let me know of another sponsor that does not use popups, will pay me $40.00 a sale AND that I can make the same amount of sales I do now. In fact, I do not know of any sponsor that does not make use of some popups/exit consoles.

Also, when I use it - I get ONE POPUNDER, that if closed, opens another window, that if closed, opens another and final window.

People should not see these until after they place their order with Topbucks. By looking at the code - it looks to me like they are setting a cookie for everyone - not just webmasters (I am no Java Expert - but that is how it looks to me). Either way - it should not effect sales. It just gives people something to complain about.

Personally, I hope they do make a ton of money off these other programs. As long as they continue to pay me $40.00 for a surfer shelling out $4.95 - they are gonna need some money to pay me - as I plan on sending them tons more business

What's the problem people - Don't like them don't use them. I am consistently converting them at max. 1:1500 with blind links included. The ratios have dropped since the change of tracking, but that was due to CTC counted only 2nd page clicks. Anyway agree with Chris, they can have any consoles hell they want as long as it doesn't affect my sales...

Wow,

Hmmm.. I'm back again to defend good ol' TopBucks.

Cookies: Yes it is true that we use cookies so our webmasters do not have to see our consoles everytime they go to check out the sites they send traffic to. TopBucks, like most other sponsors, use exit consoles in order to pay webmasters a whole lot more then the average sign up. Furthermore, our exit console strategy, is farely moderate compared most other sponsors.

Performance: Most of our webmasters are very pleased with how TopBucks sites perform for them. TopBucks has been ranked 2 times in a row as the top sponsor by the Statistician. Sometimes our sites just do not work for certain webmasters. This happens with all sponsors, but we do our best to provide a variety of tools and sites that will help convert the traffic.

As for the Hun, this is something I'm going to have to look into.

TopBucks is an overall great program, which performs very well for a lot of webmasters.

If you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to e-mail me.

Thanks,

Alli

Then that should be listed in your webmaster benefits or FAQ pages. The fact that it is not mentioned ANYWHERE is deceitful. Popups/multi-popups/popups I don't get paid for all come into play when deciding which sponsor to use where.

I just signed up, but I won't use Top Bucks now.

Not sure if you are addressing me or not, but I won't use a sponsor that I feel is being deceitful. It should have been made very clear on their site that they...

They use popups
You don't get paid for popups
They use cookies so you don't they have popups
If it was truly for the webmasters benefit, then it would not have been such a big shock to so many people. There's a lot of people upset about this on several different boards. I don't have any experience with them but when there's that much smoke there's usually fire.

I don't know them, they could be the best sponsor in the world, but there is not sponsor shortage out there, I don't think I could trust them now and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

TopBucks did not intend to be perceived as being deceitful. Whenever a webmaster emails us about our exits we always tell them what we run. 3 exits total (1 to adult sites) (1 to a dialer) and (1 to a search engine). Again this is a very moderate exit console strategy.

Why would we not have this on our TopBucks section? No other sponsors advertise that they use pop ups, so why would we?

I understand your point, but Topbucks intentions were not to be deceitful at all. After I make this post, our exit console use will be added to our faq's.

Another point: Does anyone think it is possible to run a sponsor program and pay $40 per sign up (including the trials) and not have any exit console strategy? That's impossible.

Topbucks is an honest program.

Thanks,

Alli

I understand your point, but Topbucks intentions were not to be deceitful at all. After I make this post, our exit console use will be added to our faq's.
I think that is great and tends to show that you are not being deceitful. I will push some traffic your way after all and see how it does for me.

I don't know where I got the idea that these were ENTRY consoles popping. Maybe on another board.
