    Is PS2 Online Subscription Based?

    Well, is it?

Or can I fire up Socom and start kicking ass online?

The best thing about PS2 online is that it's free.

The worst thing about PS2 online is that it's free. Seriously, since it's free, there are literally thousands of squeaky-voiced pre-teen idiots being obnoxious on their mics. Since xbox costs, there are much fewer idiotic kids on it.
      I like pie.

It should be. Now if they had where you could download game and play them instead of having to pay $50 for a game then I'd pay. My 9 year old finished Jak 3 in 4 days. Nice waste of $40. He does that with most games, I don't know if they suck or he's that good. I play Madden and that's about it so I don't know.

Playing Madden FREE > paying $20 to play Madden

That depends on whether you like playing with squeaky-voiced pre-teens or not. I personally don't. If I have to pay for quality, I will. Free isn't always better.

It's the SAME game on Xbox or PS2. Anyways you can't HEAR them. Anyone that causes crap is banned anyways. What, do you want me to go to EA.com and say "Please charge me"? I believe if someone pays $50 for game then they shouldn't have to pay $20 more to play it online. Call me crazy.

Well it depends if the servers are provided by the game distributor, or if theyre hosted by the players themselves.

If the latter, than yes, free is definently the way it should be.
