Question for the Windows Savy...

When I load up a forum like GFY, I usually keep the index of threads open, right click on a post that I'm interested in ready and select "Open in New Window."

Now when I do this, a new window opens, but for whatever reason it's never maximized. Usually the new window is some odd shape, and I ALWAYS have to hit the "maximize" button to view the thread at full screen.

How the hell do I set it, so that all new windows will be maximized when opened?

I've looked all over, and logic would have told me that it would be in Tools>Internet Options>Advanced

But it sure as hell aint.

Little help please.

Much obliged.

try this:
open your browser, open new window, maximize it, close all the browser windows
next time you open a new window it should open 'maximized' window

just a guess though, haven't used IE in ages

Hey Antonio,

Thanks for the response. I tried, but it still didn't change anything.

I guess most people here have made the switch to firefox or opera, and don't have a clue what I'm talking about.

Try This:

Start IE, right click any link on a web page, and select Open in a New Window.
Go back to the first IE window you opened and close it.
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.
(Do not use the maximize button, for that's a temporary setting that will not be retained.)

Now press the Ctrl button, and close this second window, holding the Ctrl button depressed, using 'close' in the File menu (important!).
All windows should now open maximized.

google says:

We decided to show you one that opens NEW browser windows maximized. From IE, right-click a URL and choose Open In New Window. Now go to the first window you opened and close it (don't forget this step, or the tip won't work). Go back to the newly opened window and drag it to the size you want, but DON'T use the Maximize button. Close the browser window. From now on, when you open a new window, it should open to this size--personalized just the way you like it.

OR

The next time you get one of the smaller windows, maximize it by clicking on the 'maximize' button on the top-right of the window. Once you have the window maximized, hold down the shift key, then while holding down the shift key, close the window by clicking on the 'close' button on the top-right of the window. Proceed to close all of your other IE windows as well. If all goes well, the next time you get a webpage link it should be maximized.

Thanks darkember and Antonio.

Looks like your instructions worked.

For some reason I couldn't find it on google. I guess I was using the wrong search phrase.

I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
