I know that this can not compare on the death toll, but I was in South Florida when Hurricane Andrew cam in and destroyed almost all of Miami Dade County. I worked in the County for 4 months after the storm, and watched a ton of people trying to pick up the few things of their lives that remained.

And I never once saw a foreigh aid worker show up to help, and not a dime came in to the US for the reliefe of those people.

So if you dont think that the US has given enough with 35 million, you can kiss my American Ass and Suck my American Dick, and send the 35 Million back.

Get real man, the EU and it's memberstates gives so much more international aid then the US ever will. Check the OECD homepage if you don't believe me. As for private international aid, why would that be higher for the US then for the EU? EU have higher GDP then the US and should be able to contribute more.

Nobody knows much about what the extent is - even yet, tho most countries have muttered about the financial side. Many countries and orgs now have practical aid aready there or on the way - it is more relevant that immediate help be on the ground.

As a comment on Kings shit - It does not matter what the US govt have pledged - they don't know either what the degree of damage is and it is impossible to talk money with any sense. I have no doubts the US will do much to help along with the rest of the international community.

I'm sure all nations will contribute substantially to what is appearing to be the largest disaster in our lifetimes.

You did not pay attention...did you. DirectFiesta posted one link for a source of information...which clearly states that the USA gives more aid than all other nations combined. This is actual total aid given...not per capita percentages.

I always back up my post with information, not urban legends.

It clearly states that it's the opinion of a US official that the US give more money then all other countries combined. But what has that to do with facts? I think Americans give more in internal aid then any other country, but that is because your system is very different from that in Europe where the social security is alot better.

Hear hear! The U.S. has and will commit a great deal of money and aid to the stricken areas. No matter how you may feel about the U.S., it has always been a country that steps up to help when help is needed (in most cases and YES, there have been sometimes when the U.S. did a major fuckup..but what country HASN'T?)

All in all, it's so damn petty to do the old: My country is better than your country because..
