Password protected member area htaccess...

I was just wondering what to put in my htaccess file for the members directory of a paysite to redirect people who dont put in the right password or username to another page? I have tried:

ErrorDocument 401 http://www.sitename.com/page.html

but it isnt working? Is it possible? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Thanks Amp, but 403 doesnt work either.

When I go to the page and enter the wrong password or whatever, I get this:

401 Authorization Required

in the header.

Any ideas?

Have you tried to put just this line in an htaccess at your root directory ? Have no idea if it will work, but try it.

I think you cannot redirect from 401 to another URL, but only to another page:
ErrorDocument 401 /gohere.html

means gohere.html in your root directory will open. If you put http://www.mydomain.com/gohere.html there it won't work.
