Thats a real dickhead answer. Perhaps he wasnt talking about you americans.
Please drop that attitude man. "I am an american and we are the best country in the world. I dont give a shit about other countries and other people."

The us $ sucks at the moment. I know you're not affected by that, but respect that there is other people on this board that is.

The true party of business is the libertarian party.

The death of the dollar is coming. All paper currencies fail that arent backed by something tangible. IT's just a fact of history.

The Federal Reserve has engineered the greatest credit bubble in history. The US economy no longer has any infrastructure. Everything is made in China. We get our energy mostly from Canada and the Middle East. ITs completely a service economy now.

Like I said before, their will be a dollar rally this year, but the next wave down is going to be the nastiest.

US needs to abolish the Federal Reserve and back the dollar by gold. Wont happen until the inflationary depression comes.

Look at the thread and absorb... it may help.

Do you see other people for other countries conduct themselves in such a pathetic fashion? Not anywhere near so often, else they too would be recommended to shut the fuck up and don't be so stupid.

Try thinking before opening your mouth and jumping on an instant defense bandwagon. Hell.. I would not give one toss if anyone criticised my country... why should I?? I have as much to be proud of as you in respect of "countries" - and that's damned little.

Sheesh... they never cease to amaze :-)

I just find it so funny that people from these tiny hole in the wall countries will bitch and laugh at the US... until someone comes knocking on their doorstep (which will happen eventually). Who do you think these wannabes will call?

Uncle "MOTHER FUCKING" Sam, that's who :batman

I have to type something here so the gfy machine will accept my post.

most of the comments in this thread just make me laugh because they show what kind of brainless idiots post over here...
no clue about economics (let alone world economics).

the whole situation is a bubble just waiting to bust.

I remember that in early january 2004 I posted in a thread what analysts (whose opinions I always found to be convincing) said about the downfall of the dollar.. I stated that at the end of the year - in a worst case scenario - the dollar might stand as high as 1.35... back in the day everybody was laughing at me... would love to bump that thread now If I knew the url.

all you ignorant morons should learn to learn and face a fuckin fact... a weak dollar is not only bad for Europe or Canada!

Did you guys learn anything in school?

Currently I believe the States are in control of the situation and the weak dollar is kept low in order to lower the US Budget deficit. This is good for US exports, but, what does the US export anyways?

All this does is it hurts the EU economy, payback for not supporting Iraq?

the deficit surely is a factor... but you if you think the eu economy - iraq payback thing is true then you are one of those half-brained morons I mentioned in my earlier posts.

solonline 12-25-2004 09:37 AM

Our company has also sufferd with the low dollar rate when we export USD back to the EU.. and i think for euro webmasters it will get worse b4 it gets better. No point moaning or bitching about it... take some action!
We added 2.50 to most of our site memberships to ofset the cost. We tried in on a number of sites to see if it would effect sales... it didnt, cause we have a fucking great product and users didnt bitch. Those that questioned the hike in price were told the reason and most of em understood.
Plus look at billing in Euros or GBP ,,, its not easy but their are some options.
Everyone who has US connections but also has an EU interest is effected by this, and it comes down to market forces and those who are stable enough will survie. We happily will not only survive but will prosper in 2005 regardless of the dollar rate. My 10 cents ... now - turkey time.

As an American, I am dismayed by the weakness of the dollar. It is a bummer to have European models be like, I'm only shooting with you because I like you because the weak dollar makes your rates lower. It is a drag to have European traffic sources less interested in sending to a program which pays out in dollars. Also, aside from some of the tangible economic reasons, I think it is kind of unpatriotic not to care.

Understand you Amelia!

It's hard to say, but there is some prospect of improvement, - I know nothing, but it's obvious this is not going to happen unless some fairly rigid policies are adopted. The problem then is - I can't see anyone willing to adopt those policies which would be a little unpopular :-)

It's not just Euro currency rates that are the problem - there are also other continents to consider who have a rapidly growing net market potential.

My gut feeling, tho this seems to have started in a small way already is that if the dollar cannot be stabilized, sponsors will move out of the US or have "subsidiaries" elsewhere. There is little doubt Europe has an appeal, tho this is not in any way perfect - there are other more beneficial jurisdictions, - but can see an expansion of EU based processors, but perhaps not in the format of "third party processors" as we know them now.
