Here's some pics from a photo shoot I did at Hotel Villa Convento in New Orleans which is rumored to be the original "house of the rising sun" that was sung about in the song.

Blast from the past...House of the Rising Sun was one of the first songs I learned on guitar.

Trivia - the original bass guitarist, Chas Chandler, went on to produce for Jimi Hendrix. A latter day Animal was Andy Summers, who went on to play guitar for the Police. Also, Eric Burdon, the great lead singer for the Animals recorded a great song with War, called Spill The Wine...

I don't remember a bar at the hotel. The hotel is very small and it used to be a brothel (house of the rising sun). I think there is a bar right next door to the hotel though. I'll research it and see what I can find.
