Posting on public forums is hardly leg work. I think a broker should earn his fee, by conducting business direct with associates/previous buyers. Obtaining a buyer, who would otherwise be non existant to the original owner. Now paying a $10k-$20k premium on a domain, just because someone took the initiative to post, is hardly justfiable.

And what makes you think that this is the only way this name is being marketed? This is simply a way to bring outside interest to the name, why do you think it was posted with an existing offer?

If I was selling a name of yours, would you want me to solely work within my circle of buyers? or would you want the potential to bring in outside well financed buyers as well?

AVM and dombuyer :
Pot calling the kettle black a bit here?? I'm pretty sure that both of you guys have middlemanned stuff before and I'm sure you've posted them for sale here too . In fact I've heard some interesting stories . . . telling people to go around an agent of the domain owner is pretty downright juvenile considering you may be in that same position yourself.

oh yea..... go buy my domain tooPimpin.com for sale

Got no problem with middlemanning, but be upfront that it's not your name, and don't come fishing for offers double what the name is actually selling for and not expect to be called out.

We're all in the business of cutting out the middleman. It's not juvenile, it's business. People don't cut me out because I add value. If I didn't, I'd be shoved aside too.

That said, if this guy can pull out a $55k offer, god bless him.

I gotta agree there. If he's not upfront that he's the owner, and later on I found I got middled for 10-15k+, I'd be pissed and only have myself to blame. Cutting out the middle man happens all the time in business and theres no need to act shocked when this guy got called out.

Pimpin,

I do not know what you're insinuating, or what 'interesting story' you're alluding too. However I've never once brokered a domain on here that I didn't own. In fact, I can't remember the last time I've brokered a domain - in general. Have I before? Yes, over two years ago. Lately? Not that I can recall. And definitely, not publicly. Not that it's a negative. Brokering is fine with me, however if you're going to make claims that *I* have done such and such -- I'm going to of course address it as false. I'm sure my piggy bank can accomodate a few deals. Without the need of others lending a hand.

Posting my domains up for sale, in efforts of bringing in outside clients should extend much much further than forums. You want prospective buyers, outside of your current circle? What ever happend to contacting end users, those of which who have genuine interest. --- Now I don't know what Draqon's situation is, and or if him not posting is driven out of pure ego. However you would not be selling a domain of mine, and receiving a commission from a 'forum' lead. So this hypothetical question of yours does not apply. I could just as easily post this domain up for sale myself, why would I need you to hold my hand? The reason a broker is appointed is to lend assistance, finding a buyer. Thus - unless you're teaching Outboxes how to post a reply and function on a vB community - I'm not sure your services are warranted. He's not exactly an unaware seller. He does work within the industry...In fact he posts on DS almost daily.

I never claimed it to be my name and have no problem with people knowing that I'm brokering the name, I broker names pretty frequently it's not some secret.

DomBuyer, I'm sorry you screwed yourself out of an amazing deal but it's non of my concern, I am working for the owner of the name period.

They set a base price substantially higher than what you are assuming the name to be available for, and there is not a huge mark up on the name, I work on a %, it's as simple as that.

Also, re-reading the posts I think you should reconsider your "adds value" comment because you have no idea what you are talking about. Before this thread was even started there was a tentative offer of 55k on the table.
