What's wrong with Frontpage?

What does everyone here have against front page? I use it because it is easily accessable and I know it very well. It is amazing for quick page creation. The only problems I see with it is it automatically adding Creater: Frontpage meta tags and sometimes the tables go all bizerk. Other than that I like it.

Why do you guys dislike frontpage and what are the best alternatives?

Because it's made by Microsoft, and it requires extenstions to work. Just another attempt by Microsoft to control things.

It doesn't require extensions.

I know frontpage has some special program where you can create and upload the whole website, I think that might be what your refering to as far as extensions but I never used that. I just use front page to create html files, save them, and upload them with my own ftp.

it only requires extensions if you plan on using the webpublish feature

yea it does - running front page on anyrthing other than a windows server ya gotta have front page extentions installed on the server for it to work.

when I need to build something that requires frequent previews I tend to rely on frontpage and just clean up it's code when done.

what are you talking about? frontpage can just be used as a standalone wysiwyg editor and file suplaoded through any ftp server.

Whenever I view a page made with Frontpage it looks like it's full of all kinds of unneeded code. I'd rather use notepad and keep it trimmed down to the neccessities.

actually I don't think anyhting's wrong with it either. I don't always use it, but still use it some. Makes building galleries quicker.

That is few of the problems among others
