Both are down does your hosting have backups? It might be time to have them start you fresh then reload your data...

What I actually meant was that Plesk not running is not your biggest problem. Are you running your own nameservers? Try to restart BIND and Apache and try to get your sites online, then worry about plesk.

Login through SSH and type:

restart httpd
restart bind

This will probably bring your sites back online.

Plesk. No wonder.

If you have SSH access, login and type
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start

Sorry, I see Apache (httpd) is running, since http://www.captainporn.net/ is online. Are the files still where they need to be (the files of your site I mean). You can check this through ssh (navigate to the directory) or ftp. Your webserver is working fine, so there should be another problem.

Yes, all my files are there. I don't see any bind. I can restart httpd with this:
ltsv-1417# /usr/local/psa/rc.d/httpd restart
Plesk: Apache server has been restarted

my icq is 153-940-729 is you want to go faster

what the support of the host made me do, was to:

host file:
::1 localhost.layeredtech.com localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.layeredtech.com localhost
216.32.74.194 ltsv-1417.layeredtech.com ltsv-1417
216.32.74.194 ltsv-1417.layeredtech.com
216.32.74.194 mail.rangeproducts.net
216.32.74.195 mail.captainporn.net

and do:

hostname mail.captainporn.net

after that i rebooted upon their demand through pLesk. That is when everything went fucked up. The support told me, to undo what the previous person asked of me, but how can i have a shitting idea of that after i rebooted...

Sorry, ICQ is not an option for me at the moment.

What were you trying to do/correct with that what the support 'made' you to do?

I added the 2 last lines in the host file.

After that i didn't know what to do...I just did hostname ltsv-1417.layeredtech.com and reboot server.

I also see this:
ltsv-1417# /usr/local/psa/apache/bin/apachectl configtest
[Sun Dec 19 15:52:12 2004]
[warn] NameVirtualHost 216.32.74.194:443 has no VirtualHosts
[Sun Dec 19 15:52:12 2004]
[warn] NameVirtualHost 216.32.74.195:443 has no VirtualHosts
Syntax OK

seems that now the problem is with apache versus virtualhost. I also can't start apache because it say port 80 is listened.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I got it ! I finnally found why that wasn't working. FUCKING SHIT MOTHER OF INSANITY !

I actually work 13 hours on this crap. My question is, do i stay very long with that shitty support. Even when you are willing to pay they put it on the desk...that's fucking lame.

Well, i am happy but surely all my galleries were deleted, or even worst blacklisted...All of this because a technician give me some not very sounded advices.

Yah, every square inch of my head is screaming pain. My eyes are very small and weak. Care to give me a nightly massage ?

Anyway, i have decided to keep another host as an option, and when i get through the festivities i will eventually not stay where i am. I had enouph debts for this month, i guess that's why i worked so hard.

I think tomorrow will be harder...I just feel numb right now. Well good night everyone.

Well i was right about being harder today. Just hate my breakfast, i have a splitting headache and i fell like throwing up. My neck is hurting and i am very sleepy. Gonna try sleeping later.

The good new is that, i have also rsolve the e-mail problem this morning with the helps of some IRC poeples. If i look back at all this, i must say the default installation of the Plesk control was total crap on their part. Too many custom paths and installations that do not resolve well with apache, mysql or qmail. And so when i rebooted all this became very apparent. My advice is to think twice before going with layeredtech.com ...at least not with a Plesk CP, which now i realise, is crap.

Not really...

The question was more for myself, because i had quite a few debts this month of december (One related to my car versus winter), and i was asking myself how long will i stay there with my current state of $$$ and endure that crappy. In my mind i will endure it at least 3 months to get back on my feets.

My other choice is clear to me. Remains to decide if i want Linux Fedora or Windows 2003 for the future...
