IMO. Nothing! We haven't learned a shit! This is a neverending cycle, where each century is different only by the toys.
People advance, get rich, abuse the enviroment and other people while rotting in the process, the wealth and comodity make them stupid, inert, unaware of their surroundings - This is how empires fall.
The opressed people meanwhile advance, turn on their oprressors, win, and they become the leading party, taking the cycle back to the beggining.
Ask yourself, are you better then the rest, than the people that lived before you, and when do you think the socio-evolution of the humankind will match the level of our bio-evolution.
We have so much potential, so much resources, and instead of exploring the world and the universe, we fucking fight lame ass worthless wars.
